Broken game? Error code 53

I have a big problem starting this game. All I get is a message about an "Error code 53", what ever that means... I've searched and I've tried to solve it, but as you can understand, no success, and the help lib that comes with the game are not made to solve problems, more like keeping you away from solving it.
Anyway, I've tried re-install it, installed the redists that comes with it, C++, DirectX and tried to install PhysX but I had a newer version installed. The computer have been rebooted and ♥♥♥♥ still not working. My drivers are maybe not the latest, but they are not from the year this game were made. I'll try that later...
So, anyone who can help me?

what antivirus u have? i have Mc Afee and i deactivate and work good

I just disable real time scanning with mc afee and it works fine!

I just got Darkness 2 and Hitman absolution during the summer sale and this ♥♥♥♥ happened to me, I have never had a problem downloading anything other wise I also got max payne 1&2 and EYE during the sale and they work fine

Just bought Alice: Madness Returns and I am receiving the same error (Alice: Madness Returns failed to start (error code 53).) Not using McAfee so can't try that fix only running Microsoft Security Essentials and have tried adding it to exceptions as well as disabling it altogether still receive this error. PC is brand new so specs are not an issue (i5 3.4, 8GB ram, GTX660 3GB OC edition) please any other ideas will help, thanks.

I had the same problem, fixed it in 5 minutes, here's the solution...

Tried launching Syberia and got that Error 53. I exited steam, went in my SteamApps folder, deleted appmanifest_46500.acf (found it using the freeware TextCrawler by searching text within files "Syberia") then restarted steam. Didn't even have to validate or anything, just pressed play and it worked.

Just close Steam and open it as admin. That fixed the problem for me.

Type in error #53 into google. You'll find out you're screwed.

so my issue here is that i CANT disable my McAfee scan thing because i have not renewed my subscription... that and it wont let me turn my windows firewall off until i buy a subscription.... and it wont let me uninstall it until i buy a subscription..... ♥♥♥♥♥...

It usually happens to me when I have the antivirus real time analysis activated, so when it happens I first verify the game cache and then, if does not work, I disable the antivirus at the time I am going to run it.

I hope this will help you and others.
