In which country does this game play?

I'm pretty confused about in which country Mirror's Edge takes place. My first thought would have been China or Japan, because of Faith and because some signs and panels have Asian letters written on them, which wouldn't make sense in my opinion if this game plays in America.
On the other side the name of every person and company of the game is an english name and all Billbords in the city are in english as well, which either indicates that the game plays in America or DICE translated them from Asian into English.

It doesn't really matter. The city itself is fictitious I believe, so I guess the country is as well... consider it an alternate reality?

i always assumed it was some kind of alternate reality or something since theres no names being mentioned at all
it has chinese and japanese signs and theres signs with russian letters as well lol

I would have thought Japan too as the city does seem to have some sort of Japanese style to it, particularly noticeable in chapter 5:

Also when on the rooftops, If you look down at the roads, you may notice that the traffic drives on the left-hand side of the road (most of the time), as does Japan.

Perhaps. The police car has a very similar shape to a Chevrolet Impala (american built car).

Well at an elevator there was a news story written about American-Russian conflict that takes place in BF3, So we can conclude that they take place in the same universe.

Asian lettering is lettering, just as Latin and Cryrllic is...

latin and cyrillic are 2 very specific alphabets, "asian" is literally nothing; chinese, japanese and korean are all written very differently for instance
