Wired Xbox 360 controller issue.
Game runs perfectly fine with KB+M, but I have a wired Xbox360 controller plugged and would prefer to use that. However it doesn't function correctly. It shows all the controller inputs for the menus and such, but when I try to use it, it doesn't recognize any inputs I try to make with it.

The controller has been tested with numerous otherpc games, as well as my xbox. I've been trying to play with KB+M but it's just not very comfortable (for me) to play that way. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Or have any ideas what kind of troubleshooting I can attempt?

I am currently downloading this game so I should know by the end of the night if it works on my pc. If you want to try troubleshooting it, try unplugging thecontroller and plugging it into a couple different slots. If you can, try both a USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 port. The difference is internal so you would have to look online unless your computer is labeled or you know off the top of your head. Otherwise you could try reinstalling the driver for your controller. If none of that works then let me know.

Good luck!

I was doing some fiddling to try to make this work, and found a different game that had a similar problem. The game is Pid. Though I wound up getting my controller working with that. What i think the problem is that I had the controller plugged into a PCI usb 2.0 card, rather than the mobo usb. but I went to try mirror's edge again, and still unresponsive to any inputs from the controller.

this is getting quite strange.

I found I had another usb hub plugged in which was registering as a controller input device. So try unplgging all other usb inputs you have, it may be something you don't expect.

by the way.how does one check that?

easiest way is to just physically check all the usb ports one your pc/laptop, and unless it's your mouse, keyboard or controller unplug them while testing.

Do you have the MS X-Box drivers installed? I have a X-Box 360 made for Windows and it comes with drivers that you install before you plug in the controller. Also, if you have any other controllers (joystick, other gamepads, etc.) try unplugging those before installing the drivers and then plug in the X-Box and see what happens. I had an old joystick plugged into an adapter and was being "seen" as the default controller and not the 360. Some of my games that were made for a 360 controller wouldn't work right at all. When I got rid of it most of my problems went away. Hope this helps......

I have similar issues with a playstation 2 controller. I can use it thanks to an adaptater and it is recognized by steam software, works like a charm with a lot of games. But unfortunately I don't even have the option on Mirror's edge to switch from KB+Mouse to console controler and I can't do it manually by assigning keybindings nor can I get it to automatically check what type of controler I am currently using. If anyone has a way to correct that it would be much appreciated ;)

Did you try running xbox 360 CE?
You can use it to make it register non-360 controllers and use the proper button layout.
I did that for a ps2 controller which the game then used properly but afterwards, my wireless 360 controller couldn't be recognized and I had to rerun the program to make it work.
Maybe you have something like that going on.

Here's a video on how to do it:
