Windows 10 black screen
I have recently upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 I did a full reinstall and wiped all old data and started new.

I downloaded steam and downloaded a few games Mirrors Edge, CS:GO, Garrys Mod etc. for a while I had no problem playing the games and they ran smooth like butter. But one day I went to launch Mirrors edge and the game launches to a black screen, I can hear sound and even interact with the menu but the whole screen is black. I have all the lastest drivers, reinstalled DirectX, I have tried changing launch properties to "-w 1600 -h 900" and "-windowed". I have even reinstalled Windows four times and still it doesnt work.

This is the problem with the majority of my steam games (CS:GO, Garrys mod etc.) and I dont know what else to do. Hope someone can help.

it does sound like a resolution issue. go to %USERPROFILE%\Documents\EA Games\Mirror's Edge\TdGame\Config\TdEngine.ini and edit resx and resy, try something like 800 and 600 just in case. also, make sure your video card drivers are up to date and run the game as admin too. also, disable the antivirus if you have one

I've already tried the resolution fixes, drivers are up to date, and I have no anti virus installed :/

what video card do you have btw?
also, try taking a screenshot with the keyboard key and then paste it somewhere. if its an issue with resolution or something with your screen, the screenshot will look like normal, if its still black then id say your video card is screwed up or something

very odd. did you try 800*600 by the way? i mean 1600*900 should work since its your dekstop resolution but still.
i dont know much about laptops but maybe try playing with the power plugged in just in case?

Yeah I keep it plugged in any time I play games on it. And I have tried the 800*600 with no luck :(

what if you plug in a secondary screen, does it work there? another thing ive seen online that helps is to force vsync by using the video card software

Just tried a second display. Still nothing :/

did you try forcing vsync? also what happens if you play browser games that require a video card? (just google some free browser fps games or something if you dont know any)
but to be honest no idea. it sounds like hardware related but the fact that screenshots work makes it seem like its still rendering. maybe you could try other more general support forums instead of here
good luck
