Mirror's Edge

How good is Mirror's Edge?
I've read over a lot of reviews for Mirror's Edge both torn over the pros and cons. But legitimately, how good is the game itself? Is the gameplay, story, graphics, etc worth 'investing' time and money into?

Depends how much you like freerunning/parkour and first person platforming in games. In those aspects, this game is still very VERY good even all these years after release.
Story is nothing mindblowing but really, to me this game is more about running and jumping on rooftops more than it's about story, lol

Heh, thanks. The reviews and gameplay posted by people threw me off with other people being biased. I'll take this game into consideration! :steamhappy:

There are also quite a lot of mods for it on moddb or on youtube. You can also try to speedrun it. This is one of the most speedruned game ever.

When I first played this game it was on the Xbox 360. It had an 80gs achievement to complete the game without shooting a single enemy. Not once. This was done to encourage the players to adopt this playstyle as thats how the developers felt the game was meant to be played. It made the game very challenging but extremely fun as well. Finally getting through a section you couldn't seem to beat is very rewarding. If that sounds appealing then I would recommend buying the game and playing this way.

In my opinion, 20 dollars for Mirror's Edge is a tad bit too much for its aspects so i might as well wait for it to go on sale or something.

The combat is not the best especially when it comes to firearms but I feel that's on purpose, it encourages you to just keep running and neutralize enemies with melee in most of the situations

If you want a parkour game with combat, then you're looking for something like Assassin's Creed or Dying Light. Mirror's Edge only has token combat mechanics, running is the preferable solution almost every time.

Gameplay: Excellent and worth every cent.
Story: Won't win any prizes. It exists and is serviceable, neither bad nor particularly impressive.
Graphics: By and large they still hold up nearly a decade later. The texture resolution may feel slightly low at times, but that's to be expected. You can edit the settings file to crank the graphics up beyond what the in-game menu normally permits.

You can expect it to go 60-80% off during next sale (should be within next two months, there was one last year)

Like gameplay is pretty fun and the graphics look pretty damn good for its day. Sadly its not open world (which would be pretty cool if it was) the story is Decent not the best yet not bad i would recommend it if you like games like Temple Run, Assassin Creed.
