Spore

Confused by spore + creepy or spore + galactic
I always tend to buy bundled or special editions on sale items but so far as I can tell, creepy is an entirely different expansion to galactic so does that mean in order to acquire both I need to buy both?

It certainly looks appealing but I'm already highly sceptical of EA and its dubious business practices. If it is the case that the two expansions have to be bought seperately then, even at 75% off, I'm not going to endorse EA's contempt by volunteering my hard earned cash.

I see they're also STILL doing Dr. Pepper exclusive promo's. I spent two months chasing hapless American Steam members for Mass Effect 2 Dr. Pepper promo codes and I'm not going to go through that again.

In any case, if someone can confirm that one of the spore expansions 'encompasses' or otherwise includes the other expansion in its entirety, I might consider making the purchase. If only because EA reluctantly capitulated to the demands of the consumer (or more likely 'Valve') with regards to the highly unpopular and utterly innapropriate DRM fiasco.

Creepy is not an expansion. It's a parts pack. It adds nothing to gameplay except adding creepy/cute body parts used exclusively in the creature stage of the game. Galactic adds an actuyal game element to the Galactic era and makes that phase more than an easter egg hunt.

Yeah, I wouldn't buy any of the add ons. The parts pack should've been free and the other should've had more time put into it. Xiana said it best for the Galatic add on, "Easter Egg Hunt".

hmm, also confused. So.. I have all 3 in library. Which should I install and which should I play?

Install: 1- Spore, 2 - Creppy and Cute, 3 - Galactic adventures. I always play by Galactic adventure. Works fine.

You can buy the DLC seperately if you go into package info, and then click the dlc in question.

Thanks for all the replies peeps, at least I have some idea of what the additions entail though I can't say I'm particularly impressed with the way they were rolled out. Why, does EA never conform? All they had to do was list the main title and add the expansions as a DLC along with the body parts pack. Then on 75% day, they could have avoided losing half the fence-sitters like myself by simply offering a 'Deluxe' bundle with the aforementioned DLC's included.

In any case, I'm not going to buy the same game twice just to get what in my opinion should have been the whole game from release. EA has to learn (and I think slowly the message is starting to penetrate), and insignificant though my contribution may be, at least I stand by my principles.

I don't seem to see where you are buying the same game twice Taciter. I purchased the "Bundle" on steam for $14.99 and I have not had a second thought about it, good value IMHO.

Hi Kylie, I was just extrapolating from Xiane's response, maybe I misinterpreted but it seemed like Xiane was suggesting that 'Galactic Adventures' and 'Creepy and Cute Parts Pack' are two distinct game additions - an expansion pack and a parts pack respectively. One could argue that Spore + Galactic Adventures might, at a push, justify the not insignificant £11.24 price tag (relative to other AAA titles and taking into consideration it's age) but, as a compulsive 'completist', the prospect of purchasing an identical but seperate copy of a game simply in order to ensure that I have procured all the available content for the game, seems absurd especially given that the 'Creepy and Cute Parts Pack' would set me back an additional £9.99.

In effect, EA is selling a four and half year old game plus expansion pack plus cosmetic extras for a smidgeon under £22 (and for a 75% off discount, that's a pretty ambitious price tag). Now if Steam, on EA's behalf, were selling a bundle that simply consisted of Spore + Galactic Adventures + Creepy and Cute Parts Pack for £11.24, it might hold some merit. But these are difficult times and whilst some of the big players have anticipated consumer apprehension and adjusted their pricing model accordingly, EA's board of directors still seem to be in a state of denial.
