I have Windows 8.1 which is the current version. Microsoft rewrote Windows 8, so it is no longer supported and only Windows 8.1 gets all the updates.

Runs great on Windows 8.1

Great.

NEXT:
Make sure machines are up to specs for Spore.
Spore needs a machine that has a good processor and good dedicated graphics card.

SPORE:
requires a minimum of 2.0 GHz P4 processor (or equivalent) for bare minimum.

Most newer computers will have a better CPU than the minimum. But the problem is most computers sold for bulk sales, do not have a good graphics card.

If the graphics card (GPU) is integrated (for example, it is an Intel graphics card) those cards can only work by stealing resources from the CPU and RAM. Most inexpensive computers made for bulk impulse sales, have an Intel card only, so they do not do computation heavy games very well.

Computers running with a dedicated GPU will be able to run Spore, but the better the CPU and the better the GPU, the fewer problems there will be.

If you look at your control panel for devices on your machine, you can tell if you have only integrated (Intel) or if you have dedicated (Nvidia or Radeon/ATI) GPU. See image

Many gaming computers have BOTH. So the computer can be used for email and casual games without using lots of power. If you have BOTH, you have to go into the GPU control panel to be sure that serious games are using the dedicated GPU.

Hope that helps.

2.60 GHz.
64 bit.
I think i got NVIDIA Ge Force graphic. But i cant find it anywhere. Windows 8.1 one big maze.
Anyway really thanks for helping.

Thank you for the information above, but it unfortunately it does not include the model numbers of your CPU and GPU and those details are important.

A faster way to see if your system CAN run Spore is to run this test.
http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/spore/10746/?p=a

Otherwise, -You can get your system specs from DxDiag.
DxDiag will also let us know that if your hardware can run the game, that it has been updated with the latest drivers, etc. Steam has an info file on how to do DxDiag.

My current machine from which I'm doing email-
CPU: Processor: AMD C-70 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics (2 CPUs), ~1.0GHz
GPU: Card name: AMD Radeon HD 7290 Graphics
RAM: Memory: 4096MB RAM

Above machine is totally unable to run Spore because it has an integrated GPU and the CPU is beyond inadequate

When Spore was released, the going Windows OS was XP. Later, people who bought brand new PCs running Win7 had problems running Spore.

I don't recommend buying Spore unless you are supremely confident in setting up Compatibliity Modes on your system.

MinionJoe, I agree with the first part. New OSs sometimes do not come with the best hardware. Many of the first mass produced Win 7 machines did not even come with enough RAM to run the OS.
YMMV. All gamers start somewhere, and have a learning curve for choosing a good gaming rig when they realize it makes a difference.

Between 2009 and 2014, I've purchased two 64bit machines for this 32 bit game (one Windows 7 and one Windows 8.1) --both of them run Spore and EPs without any compatibility settings nor tweaks at all. The newer one runs Spore at maxim graphics settings; the older one with mixed med/max settings. (btw, ashkelon had been one of my fave creators)

The test from your link says i will run it. So only one problem would be with Windows 8, but i should atleast try it. ill trust u.

Yes, if your machine ranked with all green check marks, you are probably good to go.

But the lower your 'percentile' on the 'bar graph' rankings, the more likely you may have to do some tweaks. :caution_marks:

Hoping for the best.

FYI this game tends to go on sale for 75%. You are actually a week or two late from the last time it was on sale on steam.
