Online services / Unable to login [SOLUTION]

You bought the game on steam, you launched it, you tried to login to the online services to see other people creations, and it just won't work. There are some guides telling you to try digging up registers, or play around with your firewall, but it wont always work.

The Problem: Trying to log in or register into the game always returns connection error, claiming your internet is lacking. It's not a problem of your internet, and neither a problem of firewall or antivirus. This is caused by Spore refusing connection to anyone who doesn't own Spore on the EA side of things.


Solution: Setup / login into EA account. Go to spore.com, login there, and check the 4 badges under your name (the site is kinda f-up'd so use something that's same old, like Edge), they indicate if EA registers the game under your account or not. If you dont see them shining, the game is not registered with EA. You could of course try the guide trying to do some local solution, like digging up a CD key from your game and activating it on EA -> (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2601443452), or you could go a more direct route like me:

1) Go to https://help.ea.com/en/help-home/ [EA SUPPORT]

2) Select "Spore"

3) Select "I need help logging into my account" or some other option that gives you the option of <CONTACT LIVE SUPPORT> via chat. (You really want to do this, tickets do take long and you dont wanna go back and forth over some formalities). Tell them something like "online services work only if you have the game on EA, but steam refuses to give me CD key and it did not get automatically added on linked EA account :(" - Just try to be nice they'll help you :)

4) EA will ask you about proof of purchase from steam (Purchase history + steam purchase automatic email) and afterwards they will add the game and the dlcs into your EA account. DONT WORRY YOU CAN STILL PLAY THE GAME ONLINE OVER STEAM.

5) If you check spore.com you will see that you now own the game on their end, if you try to sign up / login ingame the game will now accept your username and password, and that's all, done in couple of minutes :)

EA removed (hid) the CD keys from Steam because they could not fix an exploit with EA Play. it wasn't Valve's decision.

Yes, you can see other people creations and download sporechannels (best to look up the best creations on internet cause search is bit wonky ingame). I got like 2500 custom creatures in my game :D

https://www.spore.com/view/myspore ; also use old browser like Edge :)

You can also find the best sporecasts on the site and filter by downloads to get the best creations :3

Im trying to do that for DAYS now, dozens of "agents". Only a handfull went past the automatic message, and they are as incompetent as they come.

"Ill add the game to your account. What is your account email?" -closes chat. Email was in the convo. 6 times...

"We will add the game to your account, would that be okay?" closes chat, puts ticket to player unavailable.

"I added the game to your account, Can you see it in the EA app now?" "No" *ticket solved*

*posts a by now prepared text with a short point by point description of the issue and required data, e.g. email*
"May i call you by your first name?" "Yes" "How may i help you?" "Read the above message."
"Great! How can i help you today?" *face->desk*

By now im making a game of it. Lets see how long it will take them. Still trying. For the most part you are obviously connected to a really bad chat AI. And once you get through its a game of "deflect dont solve".

Day 5, still trying.

This is useful apart from point 4). Gotta use EA App unfortunately. and change the language in the Properties of the .exe to not be "Chinese (simplified). But at least the game works now so a success.
(At least that's how my chat with the guy concluded. the Creature Creator had all languages available but the Spore game and DLCs got shafted af)

One thing worth mentioning. Keep your password simple without any of the following: !@#$%^&*(){}":?><,./;'[]=-/*+

I used an EA password with any of them, the servers said that my e-mail and password don't exist on the servers. changed for just normal letters and numbers, worked on first try. (wasted about an hour in cases/tickets cuz the ♥♥♥♥ didn't work)
