Spore

Anyone that bought the game on Steam in 2024 and can use online features?
I can't make the online work, I am contacting EA to see if there's a workaround but the chat support timer is going on forever. In-game I get an error currently when using my EA credentials so I am guessing is because I don't have the game in Origin, at least from what I gathered from other threads and guides I have read.

I fixed this today. The steam version CDkey is broken due to an exploit from like 2016. In order to get it online I had to open the EA launcher and buy spore on there. You dont have to install it and you only need the base game. You just need it so you get the cd key. Also link your steam account to the EA launcher. If you do those 2 things you can launch spore with the steam version and get online. Make an account with the in game menu as well once spore launches where you type an email, password and username to create an account.

Right now spore is 5 dollars on the EA launcher. After 3 attemps with customer service I decided they were worthless. They told me my screenshots were wrong even though I did what they told me to do. Then they gave me issues about everything else after the 2nd upload. It was easier to pay 5 dollars to not deal with them.

Yeah, apparently the solution if you bought it on Steam recently or didn't play more than 2h is to refund the game on steam and getting it on Origin (at least is on sale) unless you don't really care about Sporepedia. EA Help support is terrible and I couldn't even contact via email or anything so... I read that back in the day it did work to contact EA's support, but it is not really working properly as for now.

Indeed, EA not managing the CD Key aspect properly on Stem basically means you can't use online since it needs your EA credentials with the game enabled in there. It's definitely 100% the problem. I still will keep the game on Steam tho, since I wanted to play on my Steam Deck.

Would i have to refund the DLC's i bought on steam aswell to make the game work?
Or can i have the 2 dlc's on steam and the game itself on EA launcher?
