Seconding this question. Does this game come with any kind of account creation / DRM / EA whatever to play? That alone will determine if I purchase it.

It doesn't need any accounts no, it will ask you to log in to your spore account but you don't have to, online features are disabled now anyway

oh my mistake then, it never worked for me assumed it was offline now

you can't start the game, and you get told you are off-line, the game doesn't work anymore.. Steam refuse to refund, so don't buy it !!!

I just bought the game a few days ago and have been playing it with no issues. I have no ea account either.
