u have to start as one or the other then add the other mouth in order to be an omnivore

you can't "start" as an omnivore, however, this is what I do: carnivore mouth for first part of stage 1 , herbivore mouth for 2nd, carnivore mouth for 3rd, herbivore mouth for 4th and and for 5th I split it up, half the stage carnivore and hlaf the stage herbivore (which means you breed halfway through the last stage as an underwater creature)

This will get you omnivore if you get the 2 mouths. BUT there is an actual omnivore mouth in cell stage you either have to kill a creature that has it or break open enough meteor bits and you will find it.

This will get you the omnivore trait as cell stage. Different from the diet. You can either have both mouths, or get the omnivore mouth.

what i do is start as herbivore go into cell creater when i have enough money and add the jaw somewhere.

theres multible ways. 1.attack nosey and kill him and collect his part and put it on your cell 2. you can do a cheat=hold CTRL+shift+c then text in the box adddna then go mate and put both mouths on
