Play in multiplayer?
I'm thinking of getting this for my brother and myself so we can play it together, but I don't really know what this game would be like in multiplayer. I have played Spore before, but I would still consider myself to be quite new to the franchise.

Could anyone please tell me what this game's like in multiplayer? Would you recommend it?

I would like to decide quickly so I can still catch the sale that it's on right now. ;)

One of the tags of Spore is "multiplayer", so I'm assuming you can play the game in multiplayer. Is this not the case?

The game only has single player listed on the right hand side and that's the area you need to look at and not tags like you are talking about.

The only multiplayer part really is using other peoples creations of creatures or missions / mods but again this is not something you do with the steam version as for this you need origin for most.

You can share your creations but i dont think it supports multiplayer where you can play together sadly.

It's not multiplayer it's singleplayer. But it's still fun singleplayer.

Ah, that's too bad. Well, at least I'm happy I asked before I bought it for us both.

Thank you for answering my question! (and to the others who also answered my question)

Singleplayer with player creation syncing. Nothing will beat those glorious first moments of the Creature stage with Wi-Fi enabled. Genitalia monsters dancing around a bonfire. Bill Clinton's face as a UFO crashing into the planet. Almost made the game worth corrupting my optical disc drive-- almost. (don't worry about those problems, SecuROM is patched out)
There may be a few mods that allow multiplayer but i don't know of any out there and for the mod it would have to be a lot of work so I'd be safe to say it's singleplayer

If you want, you can limit the game and what creations it downloads from the Sporepedia to 'Friends Only'. That's the closest you will get to multiplayer. Getting to see eachother's creations in your own games.

Well, it is possible to play on the same galaxy and ally eachother's saves, but you can't play at the same time with eachother.
EDIT: just realized how necro this is. ooops.
