Creating a Steam Spore Account 2021
I've recently purchased spore and have been unable to create a spore account, I've tried contacting Ea but they're not responding and I don't know why it isn't working. If anyone can help me that would be much appreciated as I want to see other people creations as well.

If you already have a origin (ea account) try this link http://www.spore.com/sporepedia
(note that i get a alert as unsecure when I use the link but I think it is because all of the sporpedia was moved by ea to another site- you will note it will take you to the new site if you are able to log in )
and log in with your origin email and password. (it should auto take you to the ea sign in when you hit the link.

If you do not have a origin account create that first then try the above. I bought the game through steam years ago and have no problems.

If it does not work you may need to see if origin sells it and ask for a refund from steam.

I just went through this... It took over 2 hours with 3 people from EA helping me.

1. Make sure your Steam account is linked to your EA account (this will require you to have the EA Origin Client: https://www.origin.com/usa/en-us/store/download )
If you don't have your accounts linked, DO NOT try listening to the advice of opening an EA game and it will prompt you to link them... This doesn't happen. Instead, use this link: https://help.ea.com/en/help/account/link-your-console-accounts/
Follow the steps under "On EA Help" and select the Steam button. This will open your Steam and prompt you to sign in to your account, then Origin will open and do the same. Then they will be linked.
If you are unsure they are linked, you can check by going to the Origin tab in the Origin Client, clicking on EA Account & Billing... It will open up a browser page, and the bottom tab is Connections. There it will tell you all the accounts linked to your EA account.

2. You still have to contact EA help. You will want a picture of your receipt from Steam and the email for your purchase. To get to your purchase history on Steam, click on your Steam Name in the top right corner of the Client. Scroll down to Account Details. On the right side of your page will be a link called View Purchase History. Screenshot the purchase of Spore. Then, go into your email and screenshot your email with the purchase order showing the game, your account name, and invoice in the pic. Then head over to https://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/ Select Spore, fill out the prompts for your issue, attach the pictures to the claim, and they will add Spore to your account after you have a short discussion with them.

This is happening because EA Play was giving product keys for games that didn't expire (Yeah, smart move) so people were signing up for EA play for $1, cancelling the subscription after getting product keys, then selling the product keys... so they got rid of a lot of product keys for their games and now require proof of purchase. If you don't care what platform it's on, I would suggest just buying it on Origin to avoid all the hassle because they're having the same sale on there.

If something here doesn't make sense, feel free to respond and I'll try to help

No matter how many times I try ro contact EA support, they send me to Steam support to issue a CD key for Spore, but Steam support has no such option :T

one question after doing this, am i still able to play this via steam launcher or do i have to then go to Origin launcher to launch the game and use the online features?

@Duwen_Blade What they do is give you access to it on your Origin account and since your accounts are linked, you will be able to play it off Steam for the achievements and everything.

@Kuraga The first time I went to support, they asked me that, but you have to have it on Origin to play it through Steam. If you tell them that the game isn't connecting to Spore servers, they have to fix it or potentially lose a sale, so they'll ask for proof of purchase and add it to your Origin library. You have to have an Origin account that is linked to your Steam. You can only link one Steam account to your Origin account for it's entirety of it's existence, so if you've linked a different account before, you'll have to make a new Origin account. I don't understand why they're suggesting you go to Steam when every EA tech knows what's happening because of the Product Keys, but I can only try to help with how it worked for me.

So I was having the same issue, and found an even easier fix if you're okay without the online content. The page implies that you have no choice, but you can actually just hit the X to close the window and access the offline mode. Hope this isn't redundant!

R-taFicial i don't understand what i have to do there "then, go into your email and screenshot your email with the purchase order showing the game, your account name, and invoice in the pic. "

@Picusolo you get an email from "Steam Support" every time you purchase anything on Steam and the emails are always titled "Thank you for your Steam purchase". At the bottom of the email has the spot with all that information before the total. It has all the purchased content in pictures while you're scrolling down as well, so if you bought a bunch of items, it's can be a long email. If you're having trouble finding it, just search for Steam Support in your emails. If you still can't find it, check your junk mail or check to see that it's going to that email instead of a different one.
