Are the servers still online?

Just bought this game on sale and I can't log in, however, I can log in spore.com just fine so I'm wondering if they shut down the server or something.

I also tried to install origin and downloading it from there but it didn't work there aswell.

I'm having the same problem RIGHT NOW. How'd you get it to work? I've made like 3 stupid EA and Spore accounts trying to get in. I'll play singleplayer and then try logging in later I guess...

You need to activate the CD Key from Steam on the Origin client in order to create a Spore Account from the Steam client.
