Spore 2 would require Origin, because EA does not release PC games on any other platform.

Spore 2 would include microtransactions, because EA corporate policy is to include microtransactions in all new games.

Spore 2 would not be written by Maxis, because EA shut down that studio in March 2015.

What's "possible" is inconsequential when exposed to the truth of contemporary EA practices.
Electronic Arts has never licensed out intellectual property that they own. EA are the only ones who will make a sequel to Spore.
Will Wright has left gaming. Last I knew he was working on television production and consumer robotics projects. It's unlikely he'll come back as a creative director for Electronic Arts.

I think a lot of people did, actually.
Love those microtransactions, do you?

Guess so.
You'd rather 10 little games to split your attention than one game that could take all of your time?
EA are not the best, granted, and they are moving so slowly to digital times but...it saves us time.
EA's new slogan should be "EA...it will save you time but not your money!"
Always makes me smile.
