How to have two galaxies at the same time?
I know this question might seem weird, but hear me out.
I have a YT channel and I want to record Spore on a blank slate, while also playing it in my spare time. I tried installing the game on Origin, but the Steam and Origin installations share save data. Really want help with this. Thanks in advance!

Back up and restore save game data between sessions.

Disable content downloads if you don't want creations shared between the two.

Thank you very much! Will have to enlist help from a friend though, as I'm not much of a computer person myself :)

To elaborate a little:

the galaxy data is stored in %appdata%\SPORE\Games\Game0

You can rename this folder to get Spore to regenerate the galaxy (although for best results you should also backup/restore the Pollination and associated packages in the SPORE folder as they are loosely tied to the galaxy generation also). Spore will only ever recognise the Game0 folder, so whichever folder is named that at game startup will be loaded in.

In this way, you can have multiple galaxies. It would be nice if Spore had command line options to load specific galaxy/game folders, but it doesn't seem to. :(

Good info. Thanks, vexx. I never played on Steam (EA wouldn't let us convert retail keys), so I didn't know the specifics.

And heck, even my retail install was wiped years ago after the SecurROM security holes let Conficker hijack my system and I had to format the drive and reinstall the OS.

Lost almost a decade of save files then. Got pretty good about making back-ups since.

Anyway... I ramble.
