My situation was I had installed a colony/resupply base of one of my best Spore creatures (they had colonies in like, 4 arms of the galaxy, they'd found Earth and used the Staff of Life on Earth, started mapping the wormhole routes, etc. Space-endgame type stuff) near one of my newish to space creatures in a separate arm of the galaxy, and then allied them.
What happened was the newb race then got a biodisaster on the better race's homeworld. There was nothing they could do.
Then I tried was damage control on the other savegames homeworld, however there is VERY little you can do to fix it: Obviously, your save with the biodisaster ongoing cannot interact on that planet. Your save who's homeworld is experiencing disaster can't stop the disaster because it is only going on as a mission in the other savegame, and once the damage is done, they are not able to restore any lost T-Score. (I can't remember if species could be replaced)
IIRC, the only way to end the biodisaster was to let all life get wiped out, but then there is nothing that could be done to restore it because you can't use terraforming kit on your homeworld.
Based on what I've learnt since, it seems logical to me that you should be able to use the species removing tool to eradicate the affected species from the affected race; however, while logically that should stop the disaster, I don't think the game works like that - and I have never had that tool to test it with anyway.
You can just carry on and use it as a sad plot point in those two creature's stories, like I did, but unless you are interested in that side of the game that is of little consolation.

For anyone wanting to repeat this for testing, the steps you take are you ally two savegames, and then you have to wait for the biodisaster to occur.
