I personally haven't had to do so quite yet, however it seems all the best modding advice is on davoonline.com

Modding is complicated and it's easy to break things, but it's fun too!

As someone else mentioned, davo online is a site that is dedicated to that, among other things.

Grab BOTH SporeMaster and SporeModder tools from that website. They're both awesome, but SporeMaster will be your primary tool.

Once you download it, you need to tell it where to find your Spore installation and which packages to unpack. You'll need the ones from Spore\Data AND SporeEP1 data if you have GA installed. In the core spore one, also unpack the locale packages in the subfolders that pertain to the language you want to mod in.

Once it has a complete list of all your game packages in the spore packages tab, unpack them. It'll unpack them all at once, but it takes a while.

Once done, head over to the Mod tab and Create a new mod to start messing with the files. Specific things can take more explaining, but once you get to this step, you should be able to figure most stuff out. If you can't, post here or PM me.

So if extract all to this C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Spore\Data it should work right? I'm new to modded really anything that isnt a DS or 3DS

But you know, there is a some problem with steam version of spore, some of mods doesnt work, but they work in origin version, so i suggest you to activate steam-key in origin for successfull game with mods

Unless it's a mod for v1.06, as most of them are.

I wouldn't put SporeMaster in your spore data folder. Throw it in C:\SporeMaster or something easier to find.

It's not the most stable piece of software ever made, so I try to keep things pretty straightforward for it.

Oh, and if you have Steam spore, most mods will fail unless you're running Galactic Adventures due to how the patches work, I'm afraid.

Oh right, I'm suprised no one mentioned yet that alot of mods don't work on the steam version at all. The origin version is the least buggy.

I have had zero problems with the steam version, and my mod changes almost everything you can change. It's more what I saw way before it was ever on Steam: the core Spore patches simply stopped it from loading mods because they functioned exactly like mods as well, and there were conflicts. GA fixed the loading system for mods, but only for GA.
