Spore

[Solved] Login Failed
I just bought Spore on Steam, registered on Origin and tried logging into the Spore servers ingame.

At first it seems to detect the account
"We will link this installation of Spore to your Spore.com account."

But after a few seconds the login fails. "There was an error connecting to the Spore servers.Your computer might be offline or your internet connection may be having problems. Check your connection or visit Spore.com for additional assistance or server status."

When I try to "create a new EA Account" with the same email address I used for Origin, it loads for a bit, but doesn't work either .. "An unknown error occured during registration. Please try again."
(I did try again :P)

Are the Spore servers down forever, is there a maintenance or is there any other issue? :/
I'd love to be able to share my creations and get a few as well ..

As you noticed, this method is supposed to work, but fails somewhere along the way. What you have to do to get around it is go to origin.com and login with the EA account you want to use.

Then, in your steam library, you need to right click Spore and select View CD Key. This is your EA cd key. Copy it and on origin.com, redeem it to your EA account. For the main Spore game, redeem it as whichever option is your computer's primary language and NOT the option that states 'spore.com access' (that one is broken).

If you have any Spore expansion packs on Steam (creepy and cute, or galactic adventures) you need to do the same thing with them as well (get cd key, redeem in origin).

Once this is done, the game servers will let you make a new spore account. While it is a little misleading, you need to register a new spore account in game -- the option that asks for your email address and password, and a Spore username. Enter the name email and password you used to register the games on origin.com. Your spore username can be anything that isn't taken yet.

Ahh I see! That worked for me, thanks a lot :3 ♥

I just registered the Steam key on the Origin website, chose the Spore version below without "spore.com access" and created an EA account ingame again. It did it for me! c:
As of today, 11-5-2019, this and the following link helped me fix this issue.

I wish it did, but I'm getting 'this code is already redeemed' when i try to enter the product code on origin.

Unless that's not where I'm supposed to put this in, but I haven't seen any others.

Does one need to install the game onto origin for the method to work, or just have it in the game library?
just have it in game library

I can't seem to copy the cd key for spore, but I can for both expansion packs. do I need to copy the cd code for the base game for any of this to work?
