Difficulty?
Before I purchase, I was wondering how difficult this game is. Is there a difficulty option? I am worried this game may be too difficult

For a Soulslike, it's pretty easy. You might not want to pick the easiest difficulty unless you really want no challenge.

This game is not Souls-like. Its a Souls-lite. There are souls like mechs but it'll be easiest souls game you'll ever play.

Even on hard, it's easy. Where people got the idea this was like a "souls-like" I have absolutely no idea becaus clearly they have never played a "souls-like" in their lives before.

This is an action RPG more akin to Kingdoms of Amalar than anything FromSoftware has put out.

I played all AA and AAA soulslikes on the market. For me its still soulslike. It doesnt play exactly as souls, but close enough.

game is so easy except from some big enemy fights... even then if you spend some time building your toon up and collecting mats to upgrade weapons you will find it so easy it is boring at times even on challenging.

get the ability/skill that gives you more rare materials asap

Folks should be reporting the "Souls-like" tag until it gets removed.
It's really not helping the game as it turns away plays who are not looking for a soulsborne like experience and is setting up the wrong expectations for players who are.

Mileage will vary. I don't do very well on Souls games, thusly on second difficulty setting, I'm unable to get passed Baarad, dozens of deaths and nearly completely emptied my health potion stock twice. I have the game because the story interests me, not for the mechanics, though the idea behind them is cool.
Ultimately, I tried to run at least on 'normal' difficulty, but I guess I'll be playing with training wheels. *shrugs*

I wouldn't consider the Story difficulty to be training wheels.
It's just the difficultly setting that "doesn't waste the player's time".

Could I spend an hour perfecting a particular boss fight that I'll probably never repeat?
Yeah, I could.
Is that how I want to spend the precious little time and energy I have for gaming these days?
No way.

"Doesnt waste players time"- if you think about it then playing any game is waste of time.

Playing Souls games gives you the chance of overcoming difficulty, and satisfaction if you succeed. Just because you want everything served on a plate without any commitment or effort from your side, it doesnt mean its waste of time. It may be for you (your personal opinion), but its not objective fact.

Lastly- hour on a boss? Thats a bit overdramatic. Seriously, these games arent that hard, and the more you play them the easier you notice patterns. Sometimes there are difficulty spikes, but for most of time few attempts on boss is enough.

I knew someone was gonna chime in with this tired take.

Sorry, but I don't need a video game to feel accomplishment.
And I find it sad that you do.
I have plenty of accomplishment in my actual life.
I don't need a piece of fiction to like I've overcome some adversity when I've overcome plenty of it just living my life.
Find another hot take.

Just because you treat video games as more important than the toys they are doesn't mean they actually are.
I won't agree that gaming is always a waste of time. That's nonsense.
There is plenty of value in play.
But if you're having to defend difficult games because they give you a sense of accomplishment, what does that say about your life?

It's a toy, and having a higher threshold for pain doesn't make you a better person than someone who says "this isn't fun anymore" and decides to actually enjoy their time instead of bash their head against a wall because that's all they've got going for them.

You dont want to play these games, then dont play them. Just stop making psychoanalysis of people who enjoy them, especially if you have no fk1n idea about their life, what they do or what they accomplished.
But ill play your game- for me you are wasting time, playing games that require no skill or effort to beat. Whats even the point if theres no challenge? Have you heard abouts sportsmen? Ith the same state of mind- overcoming challenge. Maybe you are too bad to beat these games, or afraid to lose or even try. Thats a sign of weak mind ;)
Think about your life attitude next time.

Elon Musk, someone that accomplished more in life than you and anyone on these forums ever will enjoyed elden ring.

Sorry if you feel so incredibly insecure that you need to insult others over enjoying harder games than you do but you're a moron. Life accomplishments have nothing to do with what someone enjoys in their spare time.

You're incapable of understanding what preferences are and insult others over not accepting your garbage opinions as facts. That's the real sad and pathetic part about all this.

Buddy, every single word of that could absolutely be turned around on you.

I ♥♥♥♥ on folks like you and the last guy PRECISELY BECAUSE you ♥♥♥♥ on others for having different gaming preferences.

If people like you would get over yourselves and just accept that "challenging games" or whatnot aren't the be all end all of gaming, then people like me wouldn't need to put you back in your place.

There's not a single argument you've made that can't be turned around.
Maybe look in the mirror first before making yourself look like a fool with zero self awareness.

Think about your life attitude next time.
Same to you.
I've got nothing to prove to myself.
Apparently you do.

I already proved to myself that could endure these sorts of things games and sports back in my teens and 20s.
I don't feel so insecure that I need to overcome an artificial challenge.
Apparently you do.
I see that as weakness. ;)

As I said, if people like you wouldn't get a high horse about beating "difficult" games, we wouldn't be having this conversation.
But hey, keep making a stink about it if you want.

I'll "psychoanalyze" you as long as you keep giving me ammunition with which to do it.

My life attitude is simple here.
The second you put others down for not enjoying things just like you do, which is all down to differing brain chemistry, I will take you down a peg because you could use a dose of humble pie.

We have this conversation because you started to offend me and other fans with your false projections about our lives. You judged and bashed people you havent even met, based on their preference in gaming, which is as stupid as it sounds.
You dont psychoanalyze anyone, you are just making clown of yourself. And talking about humble pie is pretty funny given what you write.
Anyway i really dont have any desire to continue this senseless conversation. Over and out.
