Linux support?
Retro Gadgets has my attention, would there be any chance of Linux support?

Hi Excaliber, unfortunately for the Early Accesss we will be focusing on Windows ony to keep the devlopment more manageable for our small team. This early in the life of the projecrt we cannot make any commitment, but if everything goes well, we would like to support Linux.

Linux support would certainly be welcome. :)

Tried the demo on the Steam Deck. It seems like it technically works, but there is currently a significant problem with resolution - the game uses what seems like 960x540 resolution and it doesn't respond to the Deck's screen scaling options. Plus there are no in-game options for fullscreen/window mode or anything else.

So it's pretty difficult to play at the moment because it only takes up 60% or so of the Deck's already small screen. Might work better on a LInux desktop though.

Running Manjaro from my desktop. The demo ran perfectly on first run. YMMV but seems like it runs fine on Linux/Proton excluding some issues with the Steam Deck as mentioned above.
Runs fine under Proton-GE 37

I can get the game running on Ubuntu with an old version of GE; 6.21-GE-2. No extra launch options. Tried latest version of GE, Proton 7.0.3 and Experimental - all throw a DirectX 11 error or something.

It's not flawless, there's problems with trying to use the Steam workshop. Aside from that everything seems to fun fairly well. The resolution issue that @ThreeSon mentions is also present in my desktop instance of the game.

I'm happy enough with the demo as it is and I'm sure some of these problems will be cleared up at full release. Very cool!

Will this game run on my microwave? Like most household-appliances, it uses an embedded version of Linux.

Why would I want to run the game on Linux you ask? For the same reason I drive my car with my feet! THere is an easy way, but I prefer the hard way. ❤

In the era of Proton and the Steam Deck, Skeletor, in their ever-staggering wisdom, says Linux users should just become Winblows users, because "current year". Pack up and go home everyone, the gaming understander logged on.

it works fine in mainline wine. most unity games do. just need dxvk in the bottle. or use proton.

Game's working fairly well with Proton-Next so might not even need dedicated Linux support

If you play games, don't use Linux. It is almost 2023. You could have learned this :papyrus:

Now it's the best time to play games on Linux lol.

Found an issue on Linux, submitting an entry to the workshop is not possible as the game sends an empty file to the Workshop in an attempt to send the gadget, and doesn't finish sending it. As a result, the mouse although does change to the hovered object, interaction is impossible as clicking does nothing. The Workshop shows an empty entry as a result.

I am on Linux Mint. (Based on Debian.)

Apologies for the inconvenience.

I'm also here to show the demand for Linux :)
This game/tool looks so cool and fun!
