Crysis 1 Crashes on start

I just bought the game last night because it was on sale for $5. Downloaded and was excited to play because I never played the game before. I have spent hours this morning trying to get the game to work. When I launch the game it goes full black screen I have to open task manager and end the program because it stops responding. I had the problem with Max Payne and was fixed with a system restart. Well this on wasn't. I than went online and found numerous forums of people having simular trouble I edited the compatibility to Windows Vist SP 2 deleted the profiles and tried to get a windows 64 bit install as well as the recent patch. After all this work not one thing works. I checked the games GPU support and it didnt have my GPU in their. I hope this isnt the problem because my GPU wasnt cheap.

My specs
Nvidia GTX 660 TI
AMD 8 core processor 3.1 GHZ
8 GB DDR 3 RAM
1TB of memory (500 GB free)

I found another interesting bug fix. If you outsource the Crysis folder (originally located in your Documents/My Games/) to a non NTFS parition (ex. flash drive) the crashes when changing the settings or creating a Multiplayer match will disappear. It has to do with the Protection mechanisms of Windows (7). Worked for me. I used Junction Link Magic (free tool) to create a reference from C:\...Documents/My Games/Crysis to e:\Crysis (flash drive). this solved the crashes

Best thing that worked for me is disabling your Anti-Virus Protection before playing.

Added an exception to the registry, thats the most I should need to do to my virus software

That makes absolutly no difference. 64 bit processor, 32 bit game. It depends on the operating system and what version it is. You may be running a 32bit OS

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit for your information. I am not stupid. Games also depend on your processor.

my game doesn't even install it says " Error missing game app configuration" when i try to install the game. i click on the error info and i get no info XD awesome. im on windows 7 64 bit

it doesn't work for me by any means nothing always shows a black screen i tried getting into the system and taking out crysis and reinstalling 3 times ♥♥♥♥ this game it is ♥♥♥♥

This is BS i just spent 20 dollars for nothing! I schouldnt have to delete or re-name anything! I payed for the game and I schould be able to play it without going through these loop-holes! I gonna ask for my money back! If they would maybe state that this problem exists maybe we the customers wouldnt buy the damm thing to begin with! Very dissapointed in steam this is the 1st time ive had a problem with any game!

Worked for me. For those who it didn't work for, remember that steam is implemented refunds, and for the majority of you this game is refundable.
