Crysis

Keeps Crashing Windows 10
I did a fresh W10 install and Crysis won't start. If I try to run it from the startup menu it says "this application is not compatible with this operating system. Please update to W2000 or WXP" which is completely odd

If I try to launch it as an administrator from the 64 bit application I get a black screen as if it's about to start and then it just crashes to desktop saying "this application has stopped working" with no other reason.

Pain in the ass. I'm starting to get really annoyed with PC gaming in general.

Same thing happens to me (or the screen goes blank on startup and then returns to the desktop), I'm on Windows 8.1. There are a large number of forums out there with threads complaining about this issue. I have tried every suggesed fix out there and nothing works. Steam should either post a proper fix or perhaps not avertise a game that is not compatible with modern operatng systems.. Good luck:)

Ya I tried a bunch of stuff last night nothing worked totally frustrating!! I'm so pissed because when I initially installed Windows 10 everything carried over fine from 7 including Crysis but eventually I lost everything on my computer and I believe it was Windows10 that screwed my computer up because everything was fine for years until I made that upgrade. Last time I ever do that.

Now I can't even install the first game I try to reinstall. My favorite one at that.

♥♥♥♥.

Sitting here with a 980Ti and I can't even play Crysis one of the nicest looking games ever. A game that truly takes advantage of great hardware. What a joke.

Nevermind I got it working.

Go the the Steam guides page for Crysis.

Go to the guide titled "Crysis 1.2.1 32Bit & 64Bit DVD EXE Files [STEAM]"

- There is a link you have to download and you're going to need two things from the compressed file. Before that though, go ahead and delete your current Bin32 & Bin64 in your Crysis folder.

- From the file you download from that guide take the Bin64 folder from there and place it in your Crysis folder to replace the old one (not sure if this matters or not but it's what I did)

- Also from the download, take the cracked "Crysis.exe for 64" application from the download and extract it to your new Bin64 replacing the old crysis.exe.

Almost done.

Last thing I did was right clicked the new Crysis.exe - properties - compatability tab - then check the box that reads "run in compatability mode" and from the selection of operating systems select "Windows Vista Service Pack 2" and then click ok.

I was able to start the game directly from the cracked "Crysis.exe" after that. Remeber that I'm using the disc version of the game so it might be a bit different for me but I hope this works for you no more crashing for me.

Also just a sidenote, another problem I noticed some people were having was the game freezes up when they would try to save their graphical settings in the options menu. To prevent this from happening you have to disable "AVG" protection. Just right click the icon in the bottom right of your computer screen and select "temporarily disable AVG protection" should take care of that issue.

Just get Crysis working. Just delete any folder in My Documents>My Games folder related to the game and try starting again. If you tried change some file, or other crack like thing then redownload any file changed through Steam and launch the game again.

You have to start the game in windowed mode.

It crashed for me every time except when I started it in windowed mode

Hope it helps :D

I think I ended up just installing it through Origin and it works through that.
