Crysis
What can I do to get Crysis to run on Windows 10?
Just looking for suggestions, so I can try and run( and hopefully play) this game.

Look for 64bit patches. They are everywhere. I'm on Win10 too and the game worked for me right out of the package, so I'm not sure. There will be solutions on the web, though.

Yep there is a huge thread on this. Many people have it running fine on 10 , though some get a few other issues, like I have to play in maximised windowed mode (with a third party border remover program) otherwise I get like 10 fps.

Are you able to play it through Steam, or do you have to load it from the executable in the directory?

I play it through steam. Though I did install the 64 bit patch.

Where can I find a good link to the 64 - bit patch?

Any of you guys get Crysis(R) - This application is not compatible with the installed operating system (Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit). Please upgrade to Windows 98SE, WIndows 2000, or better.

Yep, you have an early retail version, I had the same issue, I rebought it in a sale on steam for next to nothing so was not too bothered. (The same happened with quake 4, the retail version is not 10 compatible, the steam version is). No idea why you cannot just download the patches, but they are not available.

You could try installing in compatability mode, but I am sure I tried that, but then some people still need to run the game in compatability mode, I do not. So it may work for you.

Got the game to work by downloading 64-bit patch for the game, and then running the .exe file in the bin 64 folder as an administraitor. Though I am now curious about, wether or not buying a new copy of the game, could help with getting the game to run better on my pc. From the way that you made in sound, it seems that the problem could be when I bought my copy( which was in late 2013 or early 2014). I would like to here more about this though, before I make a purchase.

On a side note. While I have been able to get the game up and running. During the mission when you pilot the helicopter off the island, my game has the tendency to crash during this mission. I've tried setting the graphical quality to the lowest possible setting, and the game still crashes during this mission. Any thought?

If its running, then not sure the steam version will run any better. For instance if im in fullscreen mode I get like 1fps, so I run in maximized windowed mode, with a 3rd party border remover and it runs constant 60fps.

It was just not deigned for newer operating systems so bugs creep in, not sure about the helicopter part, I do not get an issue there personally. Though I did have to replay an earlier level twice as when I got to the cave, which should move you to the next part of the mission, mine had rocks baring the way.

I tried the 64 bit patch offered from dropbox, it did not work for me. I had a thread on a fix that made the game playable...

"I just fixed it! I tried the patch from http://dl.dropbox.com/u/71527378/Bin64.zip and contrary to popular feedback, it did not work for me. It crashed at launch, even in compatibility mode! I also tried a securom removal tool from https://support.securom.com/removaltool.html

If this fix does not work for you, try those attempts first.

You will need Crysis Warhead, If you cant launch Warhead this probably wont work for you either. I just copied the Bin64 folder from Warhead to the Crysis folder, and ran Crysis64.exe.

I couldn't start a new game directly, it shows the intro about how uber the suit is, and then it has a black screen for me. I had to hit the ~ key to open up the console and set the console cvar con_restricted to 0, and afterwards type "map island" to start the campaign.

It might be buggy, but its about time it works!

I am currently running Windows 10, Hope this helps."

This had me curious.

So does this mean that you can get a Bin 64 folder from a copy of crysis warhead? If so then I wonder which would be better. The bin 64 that you can get from warhead, or a copy that I found online?
