The first thing I would do is read the forums and try some fixes to get crysis running properly. There are plenty of threads with fixes.

If your still having issues, maybe post your specs and what you have done to fix the issue and people can see if they can suggest something you might have missed.

Lore wise you probably could skip the first, I am sure you will quickly pick up what you are doing.

I'd skip the whole franchise if you're going to skip the first one. I like 2 and 3 well enough. But the first one is the heart of the franchise.

Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 are garbage. The game died after Warhead.

I mean the original Crysis was the only mechanically interesting game in the series with a sandbox style open environment and more suit abilities.

Crysis 2 and 3 dumbed the series down into a typical corridor shooter.

Crysis 1/Warhead were the only good games in the Crysis franchise. Crysis 2 was alright but had a lot of problems

Crytek has been extremely lackluster since Far Cry and Crysis

I have all of the Crysis games and first game was excellent but back in the day the game was demanding to play at above 640x480, back then I was using a 1280x1024 LCD
