I have 600+ steam games and when this issue cropped up I contacted Steam support, they effectively washed their hands of the issue and said talk to EA, So I tried to talk to EA and compared with steam they and their systems are a joke. Today after failing to establish communications I managed to use their chat and learned that as far as EA are concerned the only solution to the issue they created was to move crysis over to origin. Not only does origin not support linux but they also require linking of steam and origin accounts with all the security issues that creates, unsuprisingly the EA agent solution was rejected and he just dropped the chat. No escellation to someone who hopefully knows anything about their systems or security, no EA will sort out a refund, no sorry for messing you around because we haven't a clue about security and have decided to treat all our legimate customers like they were thieve simply because we cant secure our games and they are now all being sold on via sites like G2A for pennys.
For me this whole episode has left a very bad taste in my mouth, the idea that I would link such a liability as origin to my steam account is preposterous as they clearly cannot keep anything secure not even their own products
I have told EA that they have until the end of the week to come up with a CD key for steam and if they do not then I will ask steam for a refund. From my experience with their support and it's broken English then I am fairly certain that refund is the way it is going to go. It would have been nice if Steam had stepped up as the face of all their customers and told EA to sort it out or all EA stuff leaves the Steam market but throughout this stupidity I have been alone against EA who made plain that they just don't give a damn about customer service.
Check your CD-key visibility...
I bought it, can't speak for EA Access users.
EA support are everything that trustpilot.com says they are but I was surprised at Steam's response or rather lack of it.
My guess is that EA were being ♥♥♥♥♥ and hoping to boast Origin usage via intentionally removing this game from the use of paying steam users.
EA really do not get their market outside of consoles do they? I have an Origin account with a fraction of number of games I have on steam, there is a reason for this simply I do not trust EA, their staff or their complete disregard for their customers.
Blackmailing your paying customers is never going to benefit your company over the long term and when they actually have a choice (outside of consoles) then those customers offended by your tactics are going to remember not to give you any more money in the future. Those that do deserve everything they get
