I found some posts about Steam region-locking games? A couple of years ago? WHAAA? And i've been looking at certain games such as Aliens VS Predator on Amazon. They're coming from the UK and whatnot, but have a picture of the North American print on their advertisement. I send them a message and they say nothing. Awesome... Very helpful.
EDIT: ALSO. I'm a little confused. Why does it say "Internet Connection Required for Product Activation."? What's it activating on? Origin...?
Soo... it doesn't matter which region the game is from, if i want the Retail box? It's not like it's region-locked. You say it has no Steam activation. So i suppose it doesn't matter?
Crysis uses SecuROM, which is one of the most draconian DRM schemes ever conceived. The game isn't really a game, but a rental. You're allowed to install it X times, and that's it.
I'm not saying there was a very good reason for pirating the title, but yes, there was a very good reason for pirating the title.
And i seriously can only pop in the disc a limited number of times to install the game? SERIOUSLY?! But if it's Origin Activated.... it gets installed through Origin, no? Now i'm just really torn about getting the game. I REALLY wanna finally experience all three Crysis games. But i don't like Steam purchases unless they're absolutely mandatory.
Just go pirate it or get the GOG version. GOG doesn't have any DRM, and games there are required to be compatible with contemporary operating systems and hardware, so their version is much more stable than what's available elsewhere.
Crysis isn't an EA IP. Crytek simply favored EA a lot, but as you can see by the fact that crysis 2 is still available on steam, they had more business sense than EA at times. Only origin copies of crysis will require origin activation, but the game typically costs very little on origin.
2) put boxed copy on shelf.
3) download pirated version.
4) apply cracks and updates.
5) profit.
1) buy one of the cool boxes, but with no game.
2) put box on shelf for display purposes.
3) give GOG the tiny amount of dollars required to purchase updated and DRM free version of crysis.
1) get out box of crayons.
2) take empty box.
3) draw Nomad and a jungle on it with crayons.
4) put it on shelf for display purposes.
5) download cracked crysis from somewhere.
6) step 5 is optional.
1, Buy box copy cheap.
2. Put boxed copy on shelf.
3. Buy Steam version on sale cheap.

4. If your very unlucky, buy GOG version anyway as steam version giving you issues.
(mine plays fine).
You guys.. I.. i didn't know WHO I WAS. Until you two came along.
