You can use c1-launcher[github.com] to bypass the activation code requirement. Download the latest release and extract in your Crysis folder.

I got the game working by replacing crysis.exe and CrysisDedicatedServer.exe with the exe's from https://github.com/ccomrade/c1-launcher/releases

The c1-launcher has 32bit and 64bit folders and launchers.

Steam only provides 32bit installation folders so replace crysis.exe and CrysisDedicatedServer.exe in the Bin32 folder. Use only the files in the Bin32 folder.

Launch game within Steam/Steamapps/Common/Crysis/Bin32 and click on the replaced crysis.exe.

im new to having a pc im not sure if its me doing something wrong but i tried extracting those files you said to and its still doing nothing for me

You just need to install the Source code (tar.gz. It will show up as c1-launcher-2.6-build.
1. Open this location on the drive you installed the game on Steam/Steamapps/Common/Crysis/Bin32
2. copy these files (They are the originals is anything happens) crysis.exe and CrysisDedicatedServer.exe.
3. Creat a folder on your desktop and name it something associated with CRYSIS and paste them there.
4. Copy and paste the files from this location Downloads/c1-launcher-2.6-build.zip/Bin32 (or wherever you dowloaded it) and paste them into the above Bin32 steam file.
5. Start the game, play, amd have fun.

I just did these above steps and the game now plays fine.
Hope this helps.

NOTE: Do not copy the Bin32 file from the build file. Open it and than copy the files. If it asks you (Do you want to replace these files?) in the Bin32 file for steam, click yes.

I gave Crysis maximum edition to my friend as gift, then he told me Crysis could not start but warhead was OK. I found this post and asked my friend to try this, now he confirmed it works fine after that.

To me, this problem is very strange. For myself, I bought Trilogy pack for Steam at 2 years ago, I didn't face any issues on Crysis, Warhead, Crysis2, Crysis3.
When my friend told me this issue, I found many same comments on web, it seems those old posts were there from long ago for Steam version.
I guess Trilogy pack was no problem but the standalone package(Crysis Maximum edition) on Steam somehow has a trouble for the registration code.

I'm in the same boat as you buddy boy! I got a refund/ bought the game again to get a new CD key. Same Error Message. I've been reading that you'll need to launch it from EA ORGIN APP (but def not steam). However... Orgin doesn't recognize that I own Crysis now. It's asking me to pay $50 to play this game I already own... I'm soooo confuuuused

1- AFTER INSTALLING IT, GO TO THE GAME, TO STEAM, GO TO THE MENU: NAVIGATE THE FILES OF THE GAME, COPY THE BIN 32 FOLDER, AND SAVE IT FOR SAFETY ANOTHER PLACE.

This is the inevitable fate of DRM games (and why I stopped buying things with Denuvo for the inevitable day it too shuts down like SecuROM). Eventually even honest consumers will be required to jump through hoops to crack their own legitimate products.

Guys, thanks for the "cracking solution" but, we PAID for this game and Steam should provide a solution. I created a thread on twitter, I am not famous and of course it haven't engagement. I would like to beg you to support this thread. If we have to crack the game that we have already bought, should be better to just download it from some pirate website.

This issue has been a problem for over a decade. Steam looks at it, and many agree, as them just being the storefront, you need to take the issue up with the publisher, and the publisher doesn't care, they just want you to buy the new remaster. You want this to end, focus your "engagement" on abolishing DRM in general. As I mentioned above, it's why I no longer buy any game with malware like Denuvo loaded in them, because they are in fact just rentals. Literally the only thing we have going for us at all is that some courts around the world have started ruling that it isn't illegal to crack DRM that is no longer supported. Other than that, fight DRM in general and hold the publisher accountable, since they could fix this and really are the ones who should.
