Just bought crysis from steam summer sale cant play it tho its asking for the cd key and when I type it it says its invalid

You can use c1-launcher[github.com] to bypass the activation code requirement. Download the latest release and extract in your Crysis folder.

It doesn´t work for me. It is not possible to extract the c1-launcher in the Crysis folder. What can I do to start the game?

I got the game working by replacing crysis.exe and CrysisDedicatedServer.exe with the exe's from https://github.com/ccomrade/c1-launcher/releases

The c1-launcher has 32bit and 64bit folders and launchers.

Steam only provides 32bit installation folders so replace crysis.exe and CrysisDedicatedServer.exe in the Bin32 folder. Use only the files in the Bin32 folder.

Launch game within Steam/Steamapps/Common/Crysis/Bin32 and click on the replaced crysis.exe.

I'm in the same boat as you buddy boy! I got a refund/ bought the game again to get a new CD key. Same Error Message. I've been reading that you'll need to launch it from EA ORGIN APP (but def not steam). However... Orgin doesn't recognize that I own Crysis now. It's asking me to pay $50 to play this game I already own... I'm soooo confuuuused

You just need to install the Source code (tar.gz. It will show up as c1-launcher-2.6-build.
1. Open this location on the drive you installed the game on Steam/Steamapps/Common/Crysis/Bin32
2. copy these files (They are the originals is anything happens) crysis.exe and CrysisDedicatedServer.exe.
3. Creat a folder on your desktop and name it something associated with CRYSIS and paste them there.
4. Copy and paste the files from this location Downloads/c1-launcher-2.6-build.zip/Bin32 (or wherever you dowloaded it) and paste them into the above Bin32 steam file.
5. Start the game, play, amd have fun.

I just did these above steps and the game now plays fine.
Hope this helps.

NOTE: Do not copy the Bin32 file from the build file. Open it and than copy the files. If it asks you (Do you want to replace these files?) in the Bin32 file for steam, click yes.

I talked with Steam customer service who pointed me to EA customer service who pointed me to download Origin and install the game there. I'm hoping it asks for the CD keys or something. Otherwise I'll try to follow the steps above and simply bypass the CD registration. I suspect that because GameSpy is dead, their verification servers are also long dead, thus the GameSpy Comrade program can't talk to home base to complete the registration process.

But I am getting the same problem as above.

The github version still asks me for a code.

OK I sussed it.

Right Click on manage crysis and the key option pops up and you can copy it.

I followed the steps you provided, but when I start the game is says "Failed to start process to Crysis: Access denied (0x5)".I don't know if I did something wrong or not. If you could get back to me on this, I would be real grateful.
