A crack is the only way to solve this at lest that I found.
Some windows 10 update most haved broke something, because this worked fine before in windows 10. The other thing I will try is to find the 64bits version of crysis and try the 64bits exe. Btw I cannot post links here for pirate sites so don't ask.
If you have the 32 and the 64bits folders at the same time the steam launcher will always use the 32bits one, so do this, rename the 32bits folder to something else or copy it to another place (to save it), put the 64bits folder into the crysis folder, if you haven't already then rename it to 32 bits, when using the steam laucher it should now think it is the 32bits folder (but is not :) ).
no need to use compatability options.
Btw the GOG version is the 64bits version, and I totaly don't agree that you should not buy old games, you should, there's plenty of very nice old games, you will be losing many good experiences because off it, graphics is not everthing. I have games from 1998 still working just fine on windows 10!
There's always a way to make them work, or by using a crack (when is anti-copy going bad) or by making them run on single CPU (this solves many many problems in old games) or by making them run at max 60fps so they don't get crazy because of runing to fast (also something that solves many problems in old games), etc etc.
If you go to PCGamingWiki you will find many ways to make old games work.
And believe it or not I have all Splinter cell games working on my PC right now, I still play them as well. I have a bunch of very old games working just fine on my PC, like Silent Hill 2, Rune Classic, Gothic 3, No one lives forever 1 and 2, Thief 2, Unreal, etc, etc...
About old games stoping being simple, plug and play that is a unfurtunate byproduct of things changing and evolving but is not one so great that should make people forget entirelly about old games, specially when sites like PCGamingWiki that I've talked before help anyone having problems making them work.
And after you learn how make some of them work the work arounds, are mostly the same for all, you also learn more about your PC, how games work and that imo is useful knowlege when trying to solve problems like this.
And if you really like old games and don't want go trought the trouble of making them work yourself then buy them from GOG, if available. But know that GOG team uses the exact same tricks we do.
