Crysis

Just bought crysis today, crashing after every startup.
first things first: I'M NOT USING AMD. I am running this off an intel core i5 9600k and a gtx 1660ti graphics card on windows 10. i've tried just about everything from ripping crysis warheads 64bit to running benchmarks. the closest i got was actually using a benchmark and that put me in a loading screen that went to 55% before crashing and telling me the test was successful. I have no idea what went on there but please if anyone can help me out in running this game it would be a huge help. I really dont want to refund this game over some poor file management.

Ok so i followed up on someone elses guide. i ended up doing a file verification and managed to get back 36 files that i was missing and set the startup option to run in dx9. magically works now.

The guide provided doesn't work for me.

Had the same problem today with steam version crashing under windows 10

Managed to resolve the issue by deleting the following entry

Note xxxxxx = users name

C:\Users\xxxxxx\OneDrive\Documents\my games\Crysis\Shaders\Cache

restarted the game and now boots up ..... worth a try

Message me. I'll try to help (with additional tips).
Went back and did this again after deleting the Crysis folder in My Games and it works! Thanks!

Only the Crysis folder in

C:\Users\xxxxx\OneDrive\Documents\My Games

was deleted, nothing else touched.

No copying of files or anything like that was required for this to work so maybe Steam have updated the launcher???

Yes I'm using Windows 10

Version 1909
Build 18363.752

FYI

CPU - Intel I7 2600K
16GB Ram
Nvidia RTX 2070
Nvidia Driver 445.87

Yes Onedrive is active on my system also.

Glad to help the community :steamhappy:

Good news. i managed to run the game through dx9 and it boots up just fine, after running some 3 hours worth of troubleshooting i used MikhailRock's guide and that worked out well for me, if anyone else is having trouble try talking with him first. that or we just wait for the crysis 1 remaster.

There is another fix. BUT it requires you to have the Warhead Expansion.

Because Steam Crysis Doesn't have a 64bit .exe to launch on Win10

You need to go into Crysis Warhead folder in your Steam / steamapps / common / Crysis Warhead

Delete the Bin32 file, then Rename Bin64 to Bin32

Go into the New Bin32 and delete the Crysis.exe and Rename Crysis64.exe to Crysis

Copy this folder from Crysis Warhead and paste it in the Original Crysis Folder
Stream / Steamapps / common / Crysis

It will ask you what to do with the similar files, just click replace.

After that you will be able to finally launch the game but won't have the option to scale above 1680x1050

So we you'll need to go into the game.cfg config file in your My Games file in your Documents folder
This PC/ Documents / My Games / Crysis / game.cfg

Change
r_height
r_width
to your desired screen size (mine was 1920x1080)

Right click and select Properties and check off "read only" to prevent the game from correcting any of your changes.

Your game should now start normally after this.

If you are starting a fresh new game you're going to run into another black screen. to fix this,

While on the black screen hit the Till key `~ to open up the console menu and type

CON_RESTRICTED 0 make sure it doesn't look like CON_RESTRICTED0
then
MAP ISLAND

This will load up the first level and after you hit a qucksave you'll never have to do this again as long as you have the first level save.

Otherwise you'll have to do the CON_RESTRICTED step again.

Hope this helps!
