Crysis on Ryzen 3xxx/Windows 10
I just got myself a new PC for Christmas (Ryzen 3700 running Windows 10) and was dismayed to find that Crysis would no longer run - it crashed just before the EA logo is displayed. Unfortunately, none of the suggestions here on the forums helped.

It turns out my problem is that the folks at Crytek assumed that any AMD processor would have 3DNow! support, but AMD dropped support for it starting with the Bulldozer/Bobcat architecture, so Zen (aka Ryzen) doesn't have the 3DNow! extension. The solution was to go to https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Crysis#Patches and look for the "Game crashes on machines with AMD CPUs" section. This has a link to a modified CrySystem.dll that will use SSE/MMX instead of 3DNow!.

While downloading binaries from more or less random places off the internet is generally a bad idea, as far as I can tell, this is the only way to get the Steam version of Crysis running on current AMD processors, as Steam doesn't have the 64 bit binaries which don't have this problem. Apparently both Origin and GOG do have the 64 bit binaries for Crysis, but I wasn't about to buy the game again just to get it working on a new machine, so if you don't already have Crysis, you might want to consider buying it on GOG instead.

I've seen many of the threads wrt cd-key issue. I'm not too interested in downloading files from sites I do not know, so for now, I'll just play via Origin.
