No sound in crysis.

Alright so i bought this game due to sentiment and good ol' memories. Managed to get it running, however, the sound just doesnt work. Half the charm in this game is the sound, especially of the suit. Tried some posted options with Bin32/64 folders, made a file config.cfg with some sound settings. Didnt work... any other suggestions?

Win10 x64, 16g ram, 1070. dunno what else u might need. Onboard sound card with up to date drivers.

Same here except it will work for about a minute and then I will only hear the music. Might be doing a refund on this one.

Oooh, that's better. What did you do? I saw some options that dial down sound quality, but that solved the sound quality issue, not absence...

Normally the issue is just getting the game to run, once its running its normally fine. I cannot recall any specific sound issues or fixes. Its an odd one.

Only thing I can think of is make sure your windows sound settings are set to stereo.

Just to clarify, some people can have surround sound enabled, but only using stereo speakers so loose sound depending on where they are and what is happening around them etc.

I have no idea. All sound works and then it cuts to just music. Other than that it runs fine after I do the fixes.

Those issues may indeed be caused by incorrect sound settings, so check that you're using the right amount of channels and try changing the audio rate (44100Hz/48000Hz usually work fine).

make sure whatever your listening through is set as the default device in the sound control panel, i had a similar issue with wolfenstein a while back that did it

ensure "allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" in the device properties in the sound control panel is unchecked, its in the advanced tab

if you are using a bluetooth device for listening then turn off hands free telephony because it sounds awful, go into devices and printers, go to the properties of the bluetooth device, click on services and uncheck hands free telephony if you aren't going to talk

I fixed the sound, but after the intro video its just a black screen and ultimately, a crash :D

in your my games folder look for game.cfg
r_Fullscreen = 0
r_Height = 1024
r_Width = 1280

the game should start windowed

once you have confirmed that come out of the game and add the following startup parameters to your client

-dx10 +r_width 1920 +r_height 1080

if you can start it with that you can turn off the windowed setting in the game

let me know how you get on because there are other things to do after that

Interestingly enough, Speakers - cant get it to work. Did it once, now i cant anymore. However, my Razer Kraken 7.1 headphones are working. Guess i'll go with that. :D
