Windows Defender - False Positive
We are aware that Windows Defender sometimes incorrectly flags Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree as a threat and we are working together with Microsoft to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

This is a false positive; something that is relatively common issue with new game files that Windows Defender is not familiar with. This will be resolved as soon as Microsoft has confirmed that the files contain no threat.

In the meantime, if you experience this issue and would still like to play you can add the Mandragora files to the Windows Defender exception list - or wait until it is resolved.

If you want to bypass Windows Defender for now, we recommend that you use the Windows Defender Restore functionality for the .exe file.

"relatively common issue"? Are you kidding me? This is the worst dmg control ever :D

False positives are, in fact, common. Valve even says as much in their own support FAQ. Take precautions if you're unsure or don't trust the publisher/developer.

Yeah false positives are common and Steam has safeguards in place already to ensure nobody releases a virus through their store - that'd be bad PR.

I am reminded, daily, how moronic so many people are. This does in fact happen. Steam isn't going to allow a Trojan sold on their store. They even recently removed a game for including malware. If this was a legit concern Mandragora would be taken down as well.

But what do I know, it's probably some grand woke conspiracy to sell my data to gay people or something. That's what Steam Discussions would have me believe, because everyone has a broken brain now, it seems.

I'm waiting to be fix before I rebuy the game.
Ain't the first time I've gotten a false positive. Scared me the first time too, but this game has not done so yet. Great game, hope you get it sorted out. Forever Winter gave a false positive AND quarantined the EXE because of it. Was a pain in the butt to get it out of that quarantine.

Common issue? Yet in the over 400 games I own this has never happened once.
Waiting for this issue to be resolved before trying Mandragora.

Want to add that it's not just Windows Defender. Cylance (Arconis) is also marking your main.exe as a malware - https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/115b4b2477928ea10787634fb5e239725951587b1671274c4eade0846bfa311b/detection

Was so excited to get this after work and just zone out for the weekend, but after seeing this and the EULA thing, I'm very sketched out. Bummer. I'll have to wait until this all gets settled and confirmed safe.

This is the first time that a game file has been detected as a problematic file, so I feel very uneasy. I applied for a refund, but I don't know if it will be processed since it's been over 3 hours...

same, except the refund.

Issue is now fixed on my end. Restarted comp and Steam.

Just letting everyone know this was a very short lived issue that got fixed (at least for me) very quickly. The game runs great and I have not had any other problems.
