But for what it's worth, this is a game that gets much better as it goes along. Keep in mind that it was developed by one person over 15 years, and the first five chapters of the game were released individually before the rest of the game was finished and it was then released as a complete package. It starts off very slow and simple and I don't think it really starts to show its complexity until Chapter 2; if you finish Chapter 2 and aren't enjoying it, the it's definitely not for you, but keep in mind that it will continue to get more complex over the course of the game.
A) 1h weapon + shield, to block or perfect block majority of attacks
B) Dodge /everything/ so you can use a 2-handed big/slow weapon
I do agree, the very early gameplay with just basic moveset is a bit boring.
When Spells get added into the mix is when the combat starts getting more interesting. (Can't remember when that is unlocked).
You continue to get new abilities as you unlock more skills from leveling equipment, so you can occasionally add new melee attacks into the mix (shield bash, a rising surface-to-air strike, a downwards air-to-ground slam; and later skills to enhance those a bit more if you want).
If you unlocked Spells, and didn't find them interesting; and don't enjoy leveling all the different weapons/armors to unlock more skills or crystals - then it might not be the game for you.
store page has reviews.
Bought it on Switch, and then played it for 2 meager hours only to come crying into the Steam discussions to tell everyone how you can't bother to play a game with a Story that has to develop.
or
Bought it on Steam (unlikely considering it's not in your recently played games) only to refund it (as you don't own it currently), and then proceed to do the same as above, coming in to bicker how you can't deal with RPGs.
Do something better with your time in both cases. You're only 127.8 hours away from 1k hours on Dota 2 for example.
Which is not any better.
You're as normie as it gets when it comes to playing video games. You aren't going to find this game good. I think you'll enjoy something like fortnite tho.
But, overall, one thing I'd give away to you that you may not realize, is that if you stick with the 80+ hours it took me to beat this game, then you will find that you're basically a DBZ character by the end of it. And, it took work, and reflexes, and there were interesting characters along the way. And, that... is satisfying.
Now the story got interesting from ch3-4 or something. It was quite ♥♥♥♥ the first 2-3ch, but then it got better and better and better until mind was totally blown. Even with all the positive reviews, i think this game is underrated af.
