Report a translation problem
The other choices either let you continue the game, or lead to a bad ending that lets you resume from the choice again. The events of chapter 8 happen no matter what you do.
While I absolutely love the “true” ending, I think a few of the ones in chapter 7 and 8 are just as nice/bittersweet.
What's funny is that somewhere in Ch. 7 (or 6? Can't remember) you can find a book page, which explicitly states that anyone who uses the Scales to satisfy their own desires will eventually face a tragedy. Just enough amount of subtlety to raise suspicion without outright telling you what happens next.
