Roll back starfield v1.16.242.0 to v1.16236.0
Jea those bois did it again and updated their game - breaking some mods of my 600+ Loadout in the process .

Now I want to roll back Starfield version 1.16.242.0 (current) to vewrsion 1.16236.0 (previous).
The nexus mod downgrader mysteriously did not work for me. is there an option to do that another way?

You could try to use the Skyrim/Fallout 4 downgrader on Nexusmods.com but you will have to create the necessary XML files for Starfield which includes finding out the proper depot and manifest IDs used by Steam for this game. Shouldn't be too difficult though[steamdb.info]...

to prevent future updates go to the games property settings in steam and select only update when ran (something like that wording may slightly be off). Then instead of launching the game through steam ONLY launch it through skse/vortex mod manager. Shouldn't ever trigger update then.
Yeah, I did that — unfortunately too late. It seems that once the update is initialized, there is no way to stop it one way or another.

I did some research. To prevent future updates, make this file read-only:
...\Steam\steamapps\appmanifest_1716740.acf

I will probably try that for future incidents.
In any case the guards you suggested to prevent future updates are in place.

Still, one problem persists — the downgrade.
You did it, again you updated a modded game before the mods got updated. This is on you not them, what ever else you can blame them for.
Not blaming anyone here - searching for a solution for that issue.

I did not intentionally update the game, steam did that and it was to late for me to stop it happening.

The guards to prevent updates are already in place. So it wont happen ahain

All I need to know is how to roll back to version v1.16.236.0 again.
Whoops you did it again!

Blocking updates is not rocket science. :)
The downgrader has instructions on how to do it. But honestly I'd just update the script extender and roll with the latest game version.
I have not bothered with the app manifest block this time. Only relying on the steam update only when launching the game.

I launch via MO2 with SFSE, the game has not forced any update on me yet. I am waiting on only 2 mods to update, and one of them isn't critical (chargenmenu isn't critical - only needed if I want to edit my character).

Unfortunately, the downgrader does not work for me. I am not sure why, because the log stated that it successfully downgraded the game.

That is why I reached out to the community for advice on how to do it manually.

If nothing else works, I will try updating SFSE to the latest version and run the game as you suggested.
It did not break ALL mods. I use 20+ Creation mods and they all still work fine after the update. And I did not update any of those mods. Won't unless I have issues or a update improves the features of them.
Did the update break BAKA achievement enabler?

I wish I could offer a guide on how to do it but I lack experience with using the down grader. I am pretty careful in blocking updates if I'm using a big load order.

You could search on YouTube, I would think there are some guides to help you.

But yeah failing that, just updating your mods and script extender might be the path of least resistance. Good luck.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Out of dozens of mods, I had to update SFSE and Address Library. Oh, the horror. :|

Part of modding is accepting that patches happen, as does needing to update some of your mods for them. This is nothing new, this is not a burden, it's just what it is. If you can't accept that, you should avoid modding.
SFSE and Address Library are already updated and now my mods work fine.
