Starfield: Paid Mods Will Revive The Community - Creation Club
As Creation Kit & Creation Club is set to come out this year, you're going to see a massive revival of the gaming community.

When Modders realize they can create a diverse custom planet and sell it for $10 you're going to see a new flood of players/creators. This is similar to youtube creators and social media influencers. The genius behind this is that Bethesda is going to use a similar model, but for gaming.

This is going to fundamentally change the gaming market. The criticism of Starfield is that it is empty, but that was done by design. The goal was to leave space open and free for creativity. Imagine if all those worlds were already designed? It would require modders to edit and work around already designed and known planets.

I personally am setting aside $500 for professional mods to enhance my gaming experience. Paired with all the dlc and updates you will see Starfield become a phoenix.

Nexus will still be the best place to get free mods. Creation Club Crap is a joke.

I disagree. When modders realize they will be able to make a living building/designing for a AAA company, they will all eventually move to Creation Club.

Well content mods generally suck, i find all the quests and dungeons added in skyrim anniversary completely pointless and out of touch. Grey voal of nocturnal seriously who wants that ♥♥♥♥. And all the terrible player homes yikes. Yet a new dwemer ruin : Yay

Unfortunately that should be the case for custom quests and locations in SF too. Base building mods are something im looking forward to however.

I think content mods are generally good. The biggest issue SF has to deal with is all the media hate and catering to online trolls. This has poisoned the well and Bethesda is going to have to work twice as hard now.

they can literally put a link to patreon or kofi on mod pages on nexus, they dont have to bend over and let bethesda make money off their hard work

Bethesda made the platform/framework in which they will be MODDING. This would be like asking youtube to not take in money from their creators.

Honnestly... the idea behind it could make it good. But then there's greed, il bet ya a 10er they turn it into some atrocious thing pushing away even more people and the best modders...

So far history disagrees. No one is making a living by selling guns in skyrim or a new thief follower with a boring mini quest.

Yes SF is more of a proper sandbox with a lot of blank areas to fill, but narrative content and a few more handcrafted areas are not things worth buying from a users perspective.

Game changing tools like world edit in minecraft could be making money, but even those are free

Looks like paid mods will merely be pocket money for modders and bgs/microsoft

Look at all virtual creation platforms. Music, videos, influencers, etc. That all turned out well. Look at Tik Tok & many others. It will be messy at first, but finally modders can make a living.

The biggest issue will be getting gamers to hand over a few hundred bucks. As it is now, games are far too cheap for what they are worth. People got used to inexpensive games. For how much time is invested into playing and entertainment, the cost is unusually low.

But they made the game they are modding. Not only that, but Starfield is NOT charging creators to even use their tools when they come out.

If you found a bundle of 50 uniquely designed planets by other players; would you be willing to drop $99.99 for that? Literally another 200+ hours of gaming.

and they already got their money from the game, that doesnt entitle them to money from stuff they didnt work on, thats theft.
