Anybody else getting this ???
Just downloaded something I assumed was an update fm Steam ref Starfield. It was right in the middle of it when I signed in. Now I can't get past the load in screen. It will let me choose which kind of game (load-in or continue) you want. After I do that It just sits and spins. I just re-downloaded Starfield 'cause it would reach a certain point in the game and then blackout back to desktop. Everytime. Blackout. Desktop. Same exact spot in the game. I really am getting kinda tired of all this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. At least Fallout 4 is still ' playable ' .. :x4spacesuit:

Verify files for SF in steam. You may be missing a few files.

TRY: from the main menu, open Creations & then exit if it worked. Now try your save file

Yep, I got it too. I played just fine last night w/o updating the game. Got up today and verified that SFSE and everything I use associated with it was updated. I installed the new SF update and all of the SFSE updates. Now I can only get the menu screen to load. If I go to Creations, it consistently says "Reloading..." on the top of the screen. I can click on and open the links for the creations, but I can't click on the links to buy, download, or view author's other creations. On the game menu screen, if I try to start the game any way (new, continue, load), I will just get an infinite loading screen. If I do not try to start playing and instead click "Exit", it just freezes. The only way for me to leave the menu is to end the task through task manager. I also verified my files in Steam. After several Google searches, I'm left with the impression that it's not effecting a lot of people, but the people it is effecting can't seem to get passed this, even by completely reinstalling the game.

It just works....

yes if you are using mods and SFSE is one of them you have to make sure that:
SFSE, Address Library, and any mods that depend on SFSE are all updated.

That is always the case with Starfield, Skyrim SE, and Fallout games.

Also, to avoid this in the future you should be protecting your game from updates so that once SFSE and Address Library, plus any other mods that depend on SFSE have been updated by those mod authors. Then you can update everything including the game.

SFSE is not the issue. As I stated in my post, my games ARE ALREADY blocked from updating, and I waited until today when I could verify SFSE and everything I have that uses SFSE have been updated, and then I updated the game and SFSE and everything else.

This issue seems to be tied to Creations. It is effecting PC and XBOX users, and almost everybody admits to having at least one item from Creations in their load order. And with Creations not loading properly, I assume it has to do with that. I think I have only seen one post where the user stated they had a completely vanilla install with the same problems, so take that however you will I guess.

I've a completely vanilla game with over a dozen creations, no issues at all. I know others who have no issues either. Not saying some out there don't but it's not almost everybody.

IF you're game is blocked from updating I'm assuming you have some or at least 1 mod installed. So if that's the case always check your mods and your load order.

As for the note i added about protecting your game that is more of a general statement to all.

if you don't shut the pc down at night, do you leave steam running in the background? if so, exit steam, restart steam and try the game again.

Nope, won't load with them active or deactivated. However, I can't get Creations to load for me to try to remove them completely.

I do shut my PC down every night. I only ever really open Steam to update or install a game. After installing the updated game and SFSE, I tried to load my save without success. I then restarted my PC and tried again, still nothing.

Im not at all trying to be rude, so if I come across that way, I apologize.

One of us is missunderstanding the other almost completely. And it may very well be me. I don't know.

Anyway, I didn't say it was effecting almost everybody, I said "After several Google searches, I'm left with the impression that it's not effecting a lot of people, but the people it is effecting can't seem to get passed this, even by completely reinstalling the game."

I DID say that of the people it was effecting, almost everybody admitted to having at least one Creation in their load order.

I do have mods installed. I would have no use for SFSE if I didn't.

My game IS updated. I just cant load a save or start a new game. And the Creations Store is not loading completely.

I'm walking away from Starfield for the day and then I will check to see if anything has changed. It definately acts more like a lock-out than a mod conflict. I can't think of a reason that the Creations store won't load because of a mod issue. It's more like whatever server I am trying to log into to play is down.

Nah it's all good. And yes sometimes stepping away helps alot, i do that myself and I come back with a fresh mind and outlook.

What i can tell you is this. I am playing on the exact same character save i created back on 8/31/2024 and it has ran excellent for me through each and every single BGS game update. That's not to say people having issues is not legit, not at all. I've helped too many people over the years to know better.

I did something when the last patch hit on the 9th. One day later on the 10th of June, knowing that I was going to finally start a new game and perform a clean reinstall, I instead went to the Creations menu and installed 24 Creations. Why? What better time to test them than when I know I'm starting a new game anyway so who cares if my save blows up. Well I;ve been playing ever since without a single issue. Game plays and runs great.

Does that mean nobody is having issues? Of course not, but it is telling. So yes, if it were me, and it has been many times in the past, I'd start fresh tomorrow and get it worked out.

Hey Vlad ... next time you travel to the future, could you bring me back a list of winning lottery numbers please? ;)
No time machine here, just current day info unfortunately.

zombygunner Jun 16, 2024 @ 2:06pm

I started getting this error when I tried to force an install of The Hermitage.

I don't have Vortex and don't use Nexus mods.

Any way I can find where the raw Creations files live? I'm on Windows using launching Starfield (and therefore Creations) via Steam.

Also, while I'm at it, if Creations is harmlessly updating mods in the background, can you actually see the status of the downloads?

I only have creations from the creations page, no nexus. I tried to reinstall the game 4 times, including taking everything off my computer including my saves and the .inf pref file. I made sure my drivers were upgraded. I found that one video where the guy talks you through finding that .txt file and deleted just that. Nothing has worked. I went on my husbands computer and suddenly I can access my game (using steam). Back on my own computer, still stuck on the reloading screen without it acknowledging that the creations that were taken off in the cloud while in my husbands computer are gone.

This bug is weird and frustrating. And might well be a hidden 'upgrade your computer to keep playing' even though supposedly my computer stats are still in the acceptable range. Hubby's is better. I have no other explanation that makes sense. I was perfectly happy playing in my vanilla game but I can't even get back to that with a reinstall, which doesn't make sense. And I was on NG+. All it did, btw, was put my saves back on my computer after I took them off. I am hoping they are able to fix it as they have promised to do but not sure what makes sense at this point.
