It just works....
SFSE, Address Library, and any mods that depend on SFSE are all updated.
That is always the case with Starfield, Skyrim SE, and Fallout games.
Also, to avoid this in the future you should be protecting your game from updates so that once SFSE and Address Library, plus any other mods that depend on SFSE have been updated by those mod authors. Then you can update everything including the game.

This issue seems to be tied to Creations. It is effecting PC and XBOX users, and almost everybody admits to having at least one item from Creations in their load order. And with Creations not loading properly, I assume it has to do with that. I think I have only seen one post where the user stated they had a completely vanilla install with the same problems, so take that however you will I guess.
IF you're game is blocked from updating I'm assuming you have some or at least 1 mod installed. So if that's the case always check your mods and your load order.
As for the note i added about protecting your game that is more of a general statement to all.
Nope, won't load with them active or deactivated. However, I can't get Creations to load for me to try to remove them completely.
I do shut my PC down every night. I only ever really open Steam to update or install a game. After installing the updated game and SFSE, I tried to load my save without success. I then restarted my PC and tried again, still nothing.
Im not at all trying to be rude, so if I come across that way, I apologize.
One of us is missunderstanding the other almost completely. And it may very well be me. I don't know.
Anyway, I didn't say it was effecting almost everybody, I said "After several Google searches, I'm left with the impression that it's not effecting a lot of people, but the people it is effecting can't seem to get passed this, even by completely reinstalling the game."
I DID say that of the people it was effecting, almost everybody admitted to having at least one Creation in their load order.
I do have mods installed. I would have no use for SFSE if I didn't.
My game IS updated. I just cant load a save or start a new game. And the Creations Store is not loading completely.
I'm walking away from Starfield for the day and then I will check to see if anything has changed. It definately acts more like a lock-out than a mod conflict. I can't think of a reason that the Creations store won't load because of a mod issue. It's more like whatever server I am trying to log into to play is down.
What i can tell you is this. I am playing on the exact same character save i created back on 8/31/2024 and it has ran excellent for me through each and every single BGS game update. That's not to say people having issues is not legit, not at all. I've helped too many people over the years to know better.
I did something when the last patch hit on the 9th. One day later on the 10th of June, knowing that I was going to finally start a new game and perform a clean reinstall, I instead went to the Creations menu and installed 24 Creations. Why? What better time to test them than when I know I'm starting a new game anyway so who cares if my save blows up. Well I;ve been playing ever since without a single issue. Game plays and runs great.
Does that mean nobody is having issues? Of course not, but it is telling. So yes, if it were me, and it has been many times in the past, I'd start fresh tomorrow and get it worked out.
I don't have Vortex and don't use Nexus mods.
Any way I can find where the raw Creations files live? I'm on Windows using launching Starfield (and therefore Creations) via Steam.
Also, while I'm at it, if Creations is harmlessly updating mods in the background, can you actually see the status of the downloads?
This bug is weird and frustrating. And might well be a hidden 'upgrade your computer to keep playing' even though supposedly my computer stats are still in the acceptable range. Hubby's is better. I have no other explanation that makes sense. I was perfectly happy playing in my vanilla game but I can't even get back to that with a reinstall, which doesn't make sense. And I was on NG+. All it did, btw, was put my saves back on my computer after I took them off. I am hoping they are able to fix it as they have promised to do but not sure what makes sense at this point.
