MOD REQUEST: Actual use for EM weapons
To you mod creators out there, you are doing great work - keep it up! Starfield has a ton of potential, but it does need some help. One great example of where the game is greatly lacking is non-ship EM weapons (i.e. handheld EM guns). In the base game, EM weapons serve no purpose. You can knock someone out temporarily, but they will eventually get up and you do not get experience for knocking them out nor can you loot them and it serves no actual purpose in game. To be a viable weapon option, EM weapons should do the following: They should permanently knock out an enemy, which essentially "kills" the enemy so that it grants experience and a lootable "corpse." Essentially, they should kill an enemy just like any other weapon except the enemy doesn't actually die (for immersion purposes, I suppose... frankly, I'd be fine if they just kill an enemy, but in concept the EM weapons are non-lethal). If possible, it would also be great if there was a way to capture people you have knocked out to turn them in for bounties (I actually have an old mod that I use that does just this, but it is very buggy). EM weapons have potential to be fun and useful, but in the current form they are simply pointless and not viable as a primary weapon.

The point of EM weapons is to stun the enemy, not kill him. Some missions require us not to kill NPCs.

Yes, that is my point. But you need to get experience and to be able to loot them... or an EM weapon is not viable. So, I want it to "kill" and enemy in the sense that they won't get back up, you gain experience, and you can loot their "corpse." My point is, I don't want them to be lethal, but frankly it makes more sense if they are.

If EM weapons are lethal, then I would have no use for them. A common request on this subject is a way to loot the NPC after they've been stunned, without killing them. Slap on handcuffs, get the XP as if they were dead and then you can loot them.

And make brigs actually have a use on ships. Bring back Bounties/Arrested subjects (Freestar Rangers) Alive.

Krash, you still don't get my point - in game physics could make an EM weapon "kill" an enemy to FUNCTION the same way as a lethal weapon. I.e. it may be easier to make a mod that essentially causes an EM weapon to kill a target to make it so that you gain experience and can loot the corpse. I'm not suggesting to make the EM weapons actually lethal... although it might work better in-game if they are... I want them to be non-lethal. But dangit, I want them to serve a purpose.

That would be very cool. Brigs are useless now. I always replace them with Battle Station hab for the extra crew slots.

They do serve a purpose. Its why a carry a Novablast Disruptor to disable NPCs instead of killing them when its required by the mission.

They serve a purpose. They just don't do it well. You should be able to fully incapacitate someone without killing them. As in lying on the ground unconcious and lootable. Why would you let someone keep their gun?

Cyberpunk actually handled this sort of thing surprisingly well. Especially since it wasn't flawless. Sometimes you hit someone too hard when trying to incapacitate, etc.

I agree. Its why I said this:

Still not good enough for the OP.

I carry the automatic one you can get from the guy in the well. It is more efficient and can hit more. You need to charge Nova for incap and it normally doesn't incap in one shot.

I saw a mod on Nexus yesterday which adds experience to disabling a foe with EM. Problem solved?

The EM weapon has never worked for me, until recently on guys with bounties, but even then it doesn't always work to knock them out. I've been punching guys with bounties to knock them out so i can collect but that doesn't always work either. The guys will just lay on the ground with a blue dot over their head. I read other people have the same problem, that you have to scan them first, but that doesn't work either. I just wish they made the game work for everyone as it was intended too.

All we need is in game handcuffs- slap those on a stunned 'perp' and they are magically transported to my ship- in a corner or my cells. Devs can use- Kinda like when I die I get invisible and disappear? I can buy digipicks, why not expensive handcuffs and Run them all in! No em weapon use other than tests- useless so far.
Used God's Peace on my Alive bounty- no fight for a few seconds, Talk option comes, no dialog.
I will pay my creds for another Trackers bounty mission and accept Tracker kill missions for ships and people- just like I have with Freestar Rangers- More is more- let's get more-
guess we are all killers for now!?! One day at a time....

I thought it was strange from the beginning that one could have 'brig' on a ship but not have the ability to stick anyone in it. Pointless to put one on your ship in a build.
