Can we all agree that Chromatic Abberation and Film Grain Suck?
So many sci-fi games enable Chromatic Abberation and Film Grain by default, and use it in all of their marketing material. IMO it's making Starfield look MUCH worse. I'll be turning it off when I play, but why do companies insist on using it in their marketing? It dulls the colors and distorts the image sharpness.

It depends. In my opinion Chromatic Abberation looks good for retro sci-fi scenes. Not for an entire game though. A few scenes is fine, but an entire game makes it hard on the eyes. No Man's Sky used to heavily use it but toned it way down. I don't even see it in Starfield though.

Not sure what that has to do with games using Chromatic Aberration & Film Grain. Plenty of non-Gamebryo games use them, too.

It's just a jab at Bethesda because it just works.

It makes sense in some cases, like when travelling fast.

The sense I get from motion blur in racing games makes it actualy seem like I'm traveling fast as opposed to having no motion blur. /shrug

I raced my motorcycle and if you really blurred out every time you swung your head around you'd crash.

It's a film based trick like you may have seen in the bourne whatever part two. Shaky cam nonsense.

So you like the dramatics not the realism. No biggie.

I mean, even when traveling down an interstate highway looking off to the side at the ground in real life it's going to look like a blur. So, I'd say it's pretty realistic.

What exactly would you call the ground looking blurry from being in motion? You like arguing just for the sake of arguing don't you? :steamfacepalm:
