Black screen since today's update
I'm getting a black screen after the game passes the loading screen.

The game initially loads fine, gets to the "Press any key to start", click continue and click E to load the latest save (BTW I've loaded the save before the most recent as well). The loading screen appears and the Starfield circle in the bottom right is spinning. Then the screen goes mostly black with the Starfield loading circle in the bottom right stopped spinning. I can hear the audio of where I am. (The forest) but nothing else. ESC doesn't bring up the menu, no other short cut keys work. Just audio and a black screen.

I have done a file verification, restarted my PC, verified I was on the latest version of my graphics drivers. Nothing seems to work.

Anyone else seeing this? Any suggestions or ideas?
Thanks...

There wasn't an update today. Have you not played since before the 9th? If that is happening when you try to load in, I would think it is a corrupted save. I don't know if file verification can see that, seriously I don't know.

I literally play every day. I have about 370 hours in the game. When I closed out after the issue popped up, I went to Downloads. There was an update listed there having been installed at 7:32pm EDT. So SOMETHING installed.

I did not get a update today. Also you might have to upgrade you mods. This sounds like a mod problem.

I have the same issue. similar number of hours and around the same time as ProvokeMe. Have reinstalled 3 times, updated drivers, verified files... Been trying to fix for days... nothing works.

When i load, i see the Starfield spinning circle to the lower right and then black screen.

Dont think there was an update on that day, but something has happened.

Windows 11 updates have been reported as causing problems.

Usually, a black screen is caused by the driver not supporting Direct3D. Which is extremely common if Windows update replaces your GPU driver with their own version that has no advanced features.

The fix is to install the drivers for your GPU that you got directly from the manufacturer. (Nvidia, AMD, Intel)
