after the 100th time i opened some random box just to get some basic item i started using a mod - if they had made it specific to say the safes and a few 'locked' doors it would be ok
they just added it too the rng maybe? idk but it gets annoying and feels like a time sink considering the majority of time you do it you dont get anything other than base level loot
at level 70+ i dont bother opening them most of the time, i only loot high end stuff and they take too much time to even look since i dont really need the loot and the chance of getting somthing really good seems no better than any other container
I don't bother. I quit trying and just skip any locked boxes. Doesn't seem to be anything worth the trouble in them either.
The problem is, some quests require you to use it to open ether a terminal or a door. Novice level locks are not that bad. But still can be annoying to have to spend the time to do it when it is required. Which I don't waste my time. Thankfully the use of the console comes to the rescue for such bad game designs.
Absolutely. It's over used and usually not worth the effort, but the puzzle itself is by far the best lock-picking in any game that i can remember.
Also did you keep resetting while lockpicking? Because it only uses 1 pick per lock.
as soon as you are experienced in level (i.e. expert lockpicker), all easy locks must be automatically opened. this makes totally sense. everything else in gameplay mechanics is an annoyance.
