Starfield

All Onboard.. All onboard ..cuz.. AFMF (AMD fluid Motioin Frames) is the Feature ^^
In 1 word WAUUW ^_^

Let me start of by saying that my only regret is , that i didn't found these experimental drivers sooner to test out that pretty neat feature → Fluid Motion generation ... ^^

Since, these drivers wont be suggested through radeon centers update protocol, not even when you opt for beta updates for some reason !! Provided you have an → RDNA3 gpu ..

Only RDNA3 cards will have that feature in the future..
So i guess for the majority it's time to upgrade LoL..

Let me begin by saying that the improvements using this feature is as promised by amd and more ...

so, i have enabled FMF + antilag + antilag+ (Antilag → for as low as possible frametimes / latency) for Starfield.

And boy oh boy, iam blown away.

At loading screens emediatly i saw an tremendous boost of like 400 - 500 fps lol..

My Quality preset ingame sf is:

1440p
Dynamic res = off
FSR upscale= off
High preset = world motion blur = off
VRS = on
Film Grain= maxed out

In Neon city surrounded by crowds i measured about between 110 absolute Minimum - up to 200+ fps and exceeds my monitors refresh rate wich is 165fps loL

Exploring openworld planets the fps is more stable i get between 150 -175 fps all the time I KID U NOT

but MOST important of all , and something wich many of you have troubled from what i've read arround here ... NO MORE micro stutter ... ABBSOLUTELY NONE 0_0

Iam not surprised it runs that good now whit an frametime of between minimum 2.3x ms and maximum 5.x ms ..

Also, haven't encountered weird UI problems so far.
The only thing i have noticed is with FSR / upscaling ingame set to ON the image gets somewhat distorted when panning the cammera horizontal if you know what i mean .

So , that might be work in progress..

so yeah, the only thing that annoys me when playing games is the micro stutter, not the low fps.

And by enable Fluid Motion, the hickups are COMPLETELY gone now ^^

I'd say this feature looks promising ...

cheers,

I tried AMD for about a week not to long ago. Then went right back to Nvidia.

Fluid motion is garbage. Inserts blurry artifact filled frames. Using that on Starfield is like polishing a turd with Vaseline.

Lipstick, I am dumb. Can you speak down to me in terms I understand. I like the graphics now. Is this something that my GeForce 2060 (laptop can handle?)

Forgot to mention... Quality graphics looks JUST THE SAME imo ...

Only reason to get an amd card is if you can't afford a 4080 or 4090.

eXCUSE ME... DIZ DUCK have eyes like an hawk mind u... and i tell you graphics looks just as good with fmf disabled ..; Unless you start to use utilitys and other tools to magnify the pixels on your screen by an factor of 1000 !! Sure , it will look coyote ugly.. but who play's a game under a magnifying glass c'mon ?

They did extend support to the 6000-series. There was another thread or two on this about a week ago.

Edit: Found the thread.
RX6000 Cards are getting Fluid Motion.

Also, the download link for those interested in testing.

Also for RDNA2, but I read that AMD fluid Motion Frames still has issues.

I always wanted to use AMD graphic cards. Sadly I work on AI and Nvidia is just the leader in this field.

Thanks for your help anyway.

uhm incase you didnt know... RX6600 = RDNA2 !!
I think RDNA3 has been implemented in RX6750xt and above .. if i recall correct..

What I gathered from that video is that AMD's Fluid Motion is essentially "time sharing across a segmented screen". Only a portion of it gets updated for any single frame, with the other two stagnating and being re-displayed for that frame. Then the game switches and draws a different one while leaving the others to stagnate, rinse and repeat.

Seems like a bit of a hack, and a feature meant to trick the eyes. It wouldn't be very noticeable if you were running at a native >140 FPS, but any lower (like 60 FPS natively) and it gets far more pronounced.

Not sure what I think of it so far. Jury's out.

I'm happy for you that Fluid Motion isn't noticeable to you. Keep enjoying it.

For me, it introduces a blur that I can notice constantly. This blur is the result of the crappy interpolated frames that are being inserted in between the real frames. Yes, it takes pausing to see all the artifacts (no zooming required though) but the image quality trade off is not worth the fake frames and increase in latency.

Again, cool that you can stomach it. For me, it is a distracting tech that severely reduces image quality for what I deem to be no real tangible benefit: aka a net loss.

You don't recall correctly. RDNA3 is 7000 series. RDNA2 is 6000 series. Fluid motion works on RX 6000 cards and above.
