Cant create .ini for mods without ingame loading trouble
Create StarfieldCustom.ini (not txt.ini yes) in My Documents (trying in Onedrive too but same problem). Game just stusk in loading and freezing in process.
Nexus worked but not for outfits, bcs of it i use manual version. What is this problem? No errors in Nexus, right folders in manual, i dont know whats wrong. All other mods workes grate.

This modding is a big mess at the moment.
You have to know what mods go in /steamapps/starfield or documents/starfield.
EzRyder Oct 14, 2023 @ 7:48am
maybe post the content of the .ini

i have seen issues with people not having extensions enabled, it can be tricky to see the actual extension if only 'some' are hidden (default windows setting)

in %documents/my games/starfield/ I hope?

Did you check the mod info page on Nexus if it causes any problems? Maybe you already did this, and you consider this silly suggestions. Then see it as a free bump. Telling us what mod gives problems could help as well.

Could also try modmanager2.

Are you sure it's not a StarfieldCustom.ini.txt file?
pike Oct 14, 2023 @ 8:35am
Every mod should have installation instructions, if it doesn’t don’t install it . No instructions = red flag
There are guides on YouTube on how to make the custom ini . Before you start adding mods to the game spend the time and learn how , you’ll be happy you did and it will take less time than asking people here what you did wrong when 90% don’t know what their doing either and tell you something that makes things worse .

If you’re going to mod the game you don’t want steam cloud saves on for the game , same goes for onedrive , with those active for the game they will perpetually return the game to its previous broken state if you need to do a reinstall.
It’s better to just have a copy of the data folder on a thumb drive or in a separate folder in the pc

How else can I write that this has been verified, I specifically indicated in parentheses that this is not a text file. Why this farce?
Kacc Oct 16, 2023 @ 6:38am
people, you definitely have problems, why are you all writing the same thing, although I described that the problem is not in the extension (it is correct). The problem is not in the folder, because the game works but crashes loading. THE PROBLEM IS NOT WITH MODS, because -> read above
Do not answer if you are unable to analyze the text. God...

who am I writing to, everything is written in the header, what is it?

It would be possible to place it simultaneously using at least 10 methods, but I don’t really want that. Considering that everything works for me, and the ini method works for everyone, but for some reason it breaks the download for me. This is definitely a local problem, that’s why I’m looking for knowledgeable people

Dang! I've been looking at several mods over at Nexus. Glad I gave a pass on all of them for now!

The mod I was most interested in said (in it's installation instructions) it required a second mod to operate properly. When I clicked on the link to the second mod; it said it required 2 other mods to operate properly!

Four mods to get the one I want to work properly?! Yea. Don't think so. :steamfacepalm:

ALL MODS WORK EXCEPT EXTERNAL, because it requires manual installation via an ini file. Which is filled out according to the rules, located... but who am I writing to, everything is written in the header, what is it?
because thats the only help we can really give here

if the file is correct and in the right location it will be loaded, there isnt anything else to it
maybe try a basic ini file with no edits and a re-texture or something that doesnt need any code added to it?
try this, remove everything you have added (back it up), then dl and place both of these in your Docs folder inside "\\Documents\My Games\Starfield"
here is a minimal StarfieldCustom.ini - dont edit or add anything yet, use it as is
https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/273?tab=description
here are some textures for the beowolf rifle (can find it in a shop to see it if need be)
they also go in the Docs folder inside a few more folders you may have to create
https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/1583?tab=files&file_id=3865
the textures will not work if that .ini file isnt there, if the beowolf is blue its working

Did you create a new text file and rename it or copy from game files? The game won't recognize a .txt file renamed to .ini. You need to copy the .ini in the game files to desktop, then edit it from there and drop back into files.
