(That is kind of a boring way to play though.)
The Rock has the Freestar Collective Mission Board, then I head over to The Hitching Post and hit the Mission Board there (forget which board it's called).
You can grab 7 or 8 missions at a time between the 2.
In my current pirate playthrough I had a million credits before I even hit level 30.
Every board you build will have a different set of missions provided the outposts are in separate star systems. It's great, since you can build the boards outdoors right in front of the outpost marker so you can fast travel directly to the boards every time.
Oh, and in my experience the missions are always combat missions of the "kill x criminal" or "destroy y spaceship" variety, so your standard looter-shooter opportunities.
I did get a few plant researching on on my first universe that were 10k+ numerous times, but NG+ has those pretty low and basically moved to constellation?
Otherwise if you have a decent ship, ship bounty/plunder missions. They are quick if you fast travel and you get bonus stuff from the wreckage. Transport missions are also quick if your ship is not combat worthy.
Freestar rescue if you want to farm companion affinity.
it's seem that Freestar Collective settler trait is worth it, and it's easier to get those mission board much sooner than united colonies mission board.
