How do you board the scow by force

They refuse to talk to me, reloaded several times and never changes. One of the options is to board by force. The docking ports will not respond, so where do I go?

You probably need to attack and disable the ship’s engines first.

Yeah, that is what it says in the game but I figured it out without attacking. Another case of holding the E down for a long time and hope you are facing the scow so you don't get up.

Dang if I could have a dollar for every time I've done that. It's worse during a battle and you hit 'E' instead of 'R' to lock unto a ship. You have to go through the whole get up and sit down animations while the enemies blow your ship apart like it's a sitting duck.
