1) it's not No Man's Sky, it's a Bethesda RPG with space in it.
2) Bethesda RPGs are great single player games.
3) So there's no "potential" wasted. Shoving MP into this game would be wasting the potential of a great SP game by diluting it's focus and messing up it's structure & balance to account for multiple players.
But coop like many other games would just be a bonus if they add it down the line.
Most other coop games just have "more players = stronger enemies" for balance and it seems to work pretty well, also something that wouldnt really be hard or take too much time to add.
Borderlands and generation zero for example are doing it pretty well where it works fine both singleplayer and coop.
For me it sounds the same if you go out and eat and the place you eat at have an optional saladbar for your order, and someone you dont even wanna eat there now because of that. something that wont ruin your dish since you can just not take anything from the saladbar.
Thankfully, this is a singleplayer experience where we can explore the magnificent desolation of space in peace and quiet.
Multiplayer like NMS or fo76 can ♥♥♥♥ off and stay away.
having "proper" coop like borderlands, generation zero or other games like that wouldn't hurt, if its something that wont require too much time and effort.
The whole idea is creating an amazing single player universe for us to are not wanting to have multiplayer in every game out there.
