noticed that the cards listed in the requirements use 12_1, will this work on older cards or install linux

If your computer meets the min requirements listed, it is going to work. That is all you need to understand. Unless you have a specific resolution and expected FPS. Then you need to look at the recommended specs. Depending on your expectations.

they have to announce which version the game will use. in most cases, games run on lower hardware, but there are cases when you have to use dances and chants to launch the game (I had only one very crappy game from one crappy developer. will this game be the same experience?)

Not really. it says DX12. Windows 10 is a must have OS. According to the min requirements. You won't have a choice as to which version of DX12. It will use the latest version. Any hardware which DX12 supports, should be able to use the latest update to DX12.

gtx 1060 ,rx 400/500 - 12_0

GTX 1060 is below the game's min requirements for the GPU. If you have issues running the game, it will not be related to DX12.

I was wrong the 10 series has support for 12_1

You need to get rid of that GTX 1060.

I received a answer from technical support "any card with directx 12 support"... maybe the game will only be on 12_1, and maybe not.
