Welcome to the family!
I started playing Death Stranding again and I wanted to see how it looks in 4k on my tv. It looked great, but it just felt too narrow, so I went back to my ultrawide pc monitor, which is not a 4k ultrawide. Even with less resolution, it just looks so much better. Ultrawide is awesome for games that had big 3d environments.
Do keep in mind that no game will launch with zero bugs, hiccups or speed bumps. Lets see what happens. Pretty sure they will address this prior to the official release date and we who followed the carrot of preorder to get to play early should have known we would be the guineapigs. Hopefully it is address it soon or else I will not be playing it.
Yeah, man. I am so disappointed that there is no FOV and super ultrawide support.
Hope they fix this ASAP
I have not found good solution yet.
Long story short, for now I see no way to permanently decouple weapon (viewmodel) FOV from 3rd person world FOV.
For 32:9 display IMO good values are:
viewmodel FOV : 125 (relatively matches native 16:9 weapon look)
3rd person world fov: 100.
However problem is once you speak to NPC viewmodel FOV (set by "hacky" solution) resets to current world FOV for 3rd person.
So no real solution I have found at a moment.

2. Good thing is HUD aspect ratio could easily be fixed.
In StarfieldCustom.ini
these lines do the trick:
[Interface]
bPhotoModeLetterBoxed=0
fSafeZoneXWide=960
From a neo 57'' user, I thank you :) You made my day !
That's pretty much Bethesda's strategy in the first place. They make a shell of a game, using an outdated engine, put some basic stuff in it, don't fix the bugs, then release for premium price and let the community fix it and create content for it (which they're now trying to monetize).
They've been doing that for over a decade with their SP games and it's worked up until now. But Starfield's reception (in my opinion) doesn't seem good enough to hold up the formula so that it is profitable anymore.

Back on-topic.. I'm not sure why people are still using ultra-wide. I used multiple monitors for almost ten years, then went back to 21:9 with a super sized monitor that fills almost my entire field of view anyway. I still have to turn my head to see things to the side and don't have to use ultra wide anymore. YMMV I guess.
I had thought the custom UI mods had already addressed element positioning, but perhaps not. We did after all just get the CK, so maybe it'll take a bit more time. It's really indicative of how hard Beth is trying to keep up with what gamers are using (not at all).
